We had the good fortune of connecting with Gian Pipkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gian, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Financial illiteracy is an economic issue. PEOPLE of all races, genders, and age… need to become educated so we can create a better future and leave a legacy. Do we wish to pass down generational wealth or ignorational debt? (I know I made that word up)
This business has taught me that so many are slaves to their finances, some don’t even know it.
Harriott Tubman said “I would have freed more slaves if ONLY they had known they were slaves.” Imagine the difference we all could make, if everyone started learning about what the wealthy are doing. People say knowledge is power. It’s only a portion of the power. I am excited every day to teach them how to apply and take ACTION to the knowledge.
And unfortunately, so many are being taken advantage of every day and it’s simply because no one took the time to teach them.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am here to bring financial education to the underserved community. I am a soul who is on a mission to educate the nation.
I always say the largest room in the world is the room for improvement. And boy did I need to do some serious personal development to become who I am today. I know my mindset and my love for others set me apart from anyone in my industry. I came into the financial industry straight from nightclub promotions. And boy! Was that a MASSIVE mindset shift. I was used to staying up late and getting paid to party. And for a single (at the time) 26-year-old recently divorced woman…. not ever having to pay for cover charges or waiting in lines…… that was the life.
Until it wasn’t.
I couldn’t see myself being 30 and, in the clubs helping people spend money they really don’t have to be spending. While I was studying to get my license and working downtown, I often wondered how many people that were literally throwing money had retirement accounts set up.
A well-known philosopher once said “F a Netflix and chill what’s your net worth” really had me thinking.
I realized the people that had the bottle and table service were still living at home with their parents. They had children of their own… but didn’t live on their own. It was then when I realized I was seeing everything I didn’t want in life for myself. I wanted to be wealthy not rich. I wanted to leave generational wealth not just have a couple fun nights in my youth. I want to leave a legacy… one that was positive for not just my family but for others. That’s when I quit entirely and dedicated all of my time to my business.
I met my husband shortly after that in my office. He started working there and it was absolutely love at first feel. I felt his great energy and love. He felt like home. We always say, “two people in love aimed at the same goal are UNSTOPPABLE.” And we truly are. We are building our empire and we are truly just getting started. It’s beautiful to share the same values and dreams with someone you love and get to work with.
You back a vision God gave you with action and the results are unimaginable. That’s exactly what my husband Brett and I are doing. Because good intentions don’t change the world, results do. And we intend to provide the results the world needs financially.
If someone had the cure for cancer, they would share it with the world. Well, we have the cure for financial cancer. And we will make an impact larger than we can imagine because we’ve seen what being financially illiterate can do. We refuse to allow it to continue. Thats what sets us apart. And the world will feel it because we are doing it from love. And we are so grateful to be of service to the underserved community.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Man, there are so many beautiful places in San Diego, that’s a good question. Well, we would HAVE to go out on the water. So we would probably start with a boat ride see the Coranado bridge and do the Harbor tour. Then finish up the afternoon on the beach, maybe see the stinky seals. Next day we have got to do a Cowles Mountain hiking trip and grab lunch after at a local burrito place spot. There are too many to mention. A couple food spots I have to take them to would be Cocina del Barrio, Morning glory, Underbelly, born and raise, or Herb and wood. Oh or grab some oysters at top sail or the Brigantine. Oh, one of my favorite places is a vegan restaurant (no I’m not vegan) called The loving hut. It’s incredible.
Go grab drinks at one of the speakeasys or Kettner exchange. Catch one of the amazing shows in town or visit an art gallery.
There are so many things to do I’ll just make my friend just move out here. I haven’t even been able to enjoy all the beautiful places San Diego offers.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off, my Lord and savior, God. I wouldn’t have come from the darkness I’ve experienced with such light. I have overcome so many mental obstacles. I now because of them can shine bright but more importantly help others shine even brighter. And that’s all God. I have to give a HUGE shoutout to my mother. Without her….I wouldn’t be the strong leader I am today. She has been through so much and I owe her the world. She is strong, loving and a true woman of service. I admire how beautiful her soul is after all she’s been through. She’s a true fighter and a humble servant of God.
Also, I’ve got give it up to my mentors in business, without them I wouldn’t be in the industry nor with the success I’ve had. So, Daisy, Yariv and Margo are the reason my life has changed. I can’t give it up to them enough. (There’s a few more… you know who you are)
But the biggest shoutout on earth goes to my husband, my best friend my soulmate, Mr. Brett Pipkin. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without him. We are just getting started baby and there is no top. I’m so excited to be on this life and soul long journey with you….through it all.
