We had the good fortune of connecting with Edward Harpham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edward, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When you know you were born to create, the process of starting a business comes naturally. Any person who has the passion and desire to design and create beautiful products will stop at nothing to get their products out in the world. People comment that our products make them happy and we just want to provide more beauty and happiness.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Edward Albert Design is a full design house and manufacturing facility in the Central Valley, California. Although we manufacture our products in the Central Valley, Edward (Al) Harpham was born in the San Fernando Valley and raised in North Hollywood. His love of Southern California has never faded and he will forever consider Southern California his home.
Creating new items brings us so much happiness and is the driving force behind our brand. We are always coming up with something new! While this aspect is easy for us, it has been difficult to be seen on social media because of the amount of content already in circulation. We’ve adapted by specifically targeting our customer base – special event planners and special event rental companies. We design our products that are not only beautiful, but extremely functional and user friendly. It’s the best of both worlds.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many things to do in this area! There are so many shops and eateries at the Fig Garden Village and events in Downtown Fresno and along Fulton Mall. On weekends, there is live music in the Tower District in many of the restaurants and bars and all are within walking distance of each other. Along the Fulton mall, there are amazing sculptures from established artists during the 1960s and people come from all over to see Pierre-Auguste Renor’s world famous statue, La Grande Laveuse.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our family and community has been the most supportive ever! We are so grateful for their continued suggestions, recognition and support. We are nothing without those around us who continue to encourage us. As with any business, we have had our share of ups and downs over the years and it is our friends and family who have helped us stay the course and not give up. When we struggled, we leaned on these people for support.
