We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddie Villarreal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eddie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a Kid, I was always interested in the design of things, the curves on buildings, the design of photography, and the way clothing fit the body. But when I started college that’s when the reality of a creative career was in sight. I had originally entered college as a film major, but I had always had an interest in fashion, so I decided to take a fashion class and I fell in Love. The following week I changed my major to Fashion Design. While this change was occurring I was actively making and posting TikToks. Before my switch to fashion, I had reached 9,000 followers on the platform. But when I decided that Fashion was my passion and I switched my content from photography/ trendy videos to Style, Fashion, and Thrifting. At the moment I have reached 78,000 followers on TikTok. Pursing Fashion feels right, learning and creating my own designs and sharing that with the community that I have built on TikTok motivates me to work hard for my creative career in Fashion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Fashion content creator. My videos consist of me making garments, styling, making transition videos, and commentary on fashion events. Anybody can do these things and if you work hard enough you can get to where I am. But what sets me apart from other creatives is that I constantly advocate to go against the grain and be your trueself. Social Media can be a very scary place where it can be easy to loose yourself. This is something I’ve had to over come. People are going to hate reguardless of what you do, but the reason it stung so much was because I would spend a lot of time creating content, so when people had negative things to say or the algroithum would look right passed me it was frustrating. The way I overcame this was by really reminding myself of my worth and understanding what I wanted to gain from being a content creator. I love fashion and it was hard to find a fashion community in my community. I wanted to build my own community where we could grow together. I continued creating content and reach 78K on tiktok, consistency is key! Creating videos maybe a lot of work but I thoroughly enjoy making them because I learn so much and I know at the end of the day if I inspired one person I know I did my Job as a content creator. I have had many successes from the last 2 years of creating content collabing with Brands like Nike and IT cosmetics. I cant believe its been 2 years, but I still feel my journey has just began. One thing I want people to know is style is a lifelong development we change through time and people need to understand that fashion is a means of self-expression, so use it to your advantage and dont be scared to take a risk.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For me my favorite spots in the city are the spots that inspire me! My firsts stop would be Baloboa park I find it so interesting because i feel everytime i go i discover something new. The beach would be my next spot, mission beach of course I think it would give a diverse San Diego experience. Sunsetcliiffs and its secret beaches, little Italy and torry pines hiking trails, most iconic and inspiring places. I am also a big foodie and my favorite spots are scattered all over the city, Suhi deli 1 in north park, Rayoma Ramen in PB, Boba Bar on convoy, Papleccos and Mona Lisas in little Italy, Señor mangos in Normal Heights, Taquería Imperial Encanto, and Ponces on Adams Ave. Must check out places are Chicano Park, Belmont park, the secret swings in la Jolla, the modern art museum, K1 speed, and kate O sessions park.
