We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Erica Wollerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Erica, what inspires you?
I am deeply inspired by my clients. As a therapist, I hold so much respect for my clients in their ability to connect with themselves, to share their lives with me, and to work on improving their lives even when things are so challenging. It is an unbelievable honor for me to walk with them through these parts of their lives and help them understand themselves and their choices even more. I know that change is so deeply challenging and each day, I have people who show up to try and make changes with my support. I find this to be incredibly inspirational!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Thrive Therapy Studio is a group psychology practice that I founded in 2017. We started with 1.5 therapists and now have grown to having 6 therapists and one administrative assistant. It is an amazing team of passionate women who love helping children, families, and adults live their best lives. I believe that we stand out because we all genuinely care about our clients and our community. We are always working on new ways to support San Diego, and now the state of CA due to working primarily through telehealth due to the pandemic. The lessons I have learned along the way as a business owner are similar to the ones I have learned as a therapist. I believe that we all do our best when we are supported, valued, appreciated, and understood. I strive every day to help my clients feel this way, but also our team.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would love to take my out of town friends to the beach in Pacific Beach (I got engaged there!) and then to La Jolla to see the seals. We would spend some time in Temecula and definitely need to go to OB Noodle House in Ocean Beach! My favorite hikes are Torrey Pines or simply just walking at Sunset Cliffs. Living in San Diego is such a blessing because I feel like every neighborhood has amazing restaurants and energy to visit!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would dedicate my shoutout to both my clients at Thrive and my colleagues who I am so lucky to work with!
