We had the good fortune of connecting with Doreen Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Doreen, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My balance has changed overtime. When I became a mother my priorities changed and I wanted more flexibility to stay home with my son. I still wanted to work and have income to contribute to our family but I wanted to be present for my family as well. I thought about the balance because it is what I grew up with. My mom stayed home with my brother and I and I have many fond memories from childhood. That was always the type of mother I envisioned myself being.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is all about supporting other women in health. I provide them with workout programs, nutrition plans, support and accountability. I believe what sets me apart form others is that I lead by example. I show up and show my clients what is possible. It was not easy. I have to be vulnerable, creative and constantly learning. I have overcome the challenges by leaning into my team for the support and community that I need. Lessons I have learned along the way are I can’t do this alone. Failing is apart of the journey and it helps you succeed. I want the world to know that I am loyal to the women I work with and really love what I do. It is so uplifting knowing that I played a small part in a clients health goal.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the Beach. The ocean is so relaxing and it brings me joy just being present there. I would also take them downtown to go out to eat at one of the seafood restaurants. Then I would love to take them on hike to really enjoy the natural beauty of this city. I think the most fun places to check out are the zoo. I have two young boys so they love to go there and seeing their faces light up when they see the animals makes me so happy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to shoutout my husband for always wanting me to be a better version of myself. His mindset helped me change mine to become a better wife, mother and coach. I want to also shoutout Beachbody and the coaches I have met on my team. There are many inspiring women that have me dreaming big and hustling hard.
