We had the good fortune of connecting with Darren Solomon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darren, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Being resilient and relentless in moving forward with our vision and mission for Kid Ventures. As a small business owner, you come across many different obstacles (and opportunities) along the journey and it’s having a mindset of not giving up and finding a way no matter what that has enabled us to grow and live true to our goal of creating an amazing place for children to thrive.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Kid Ventures Preschool Academy, we want your little one to develop a life-long love for learning and education. Kid Ventures Preschool Academy is a new and innovative way to do preschool centered around a customized learning experience for your child. Our preschoolers receive the benefits of both classroom learning and play-based exploration in Kid Ventures’ award-winning creative environment. When parents enroll their child at Kid Ventures Preschool Academy, they’re joining a community of other like-minded families. Their child will be excited to spend more time with the friends and staff that they already know and love while learning more about themselves and our world as they prepare for elementary school. We invite parents to share in these precious learning moments.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start off with breakfast in Little Italy as it’s a wonderful area that showcases a unique part of San Diego’s culture and has delicious breakfast spots. Then I would take them up the coast to experience all of the unique beach communities San Diego has to offer, starting at Ocean Beach and ending at Oceanside. Of course, we would pick a favorite casual Mexican restaurant for lunch along the way to enjoy beachside. I’d then make sure they experience a beach sunset for happy hour or dinner one night (possibly Del Mar or La Jolla) and also pick one night for dinner down in the Gaslamp or East Village area.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife, Debbie. She has always been the inspiration behind what we have created at Kid Ventures. Since she was a young child, she knew without a shadow of a doubt that she wanted to work with and help children. Her passion and commitment to have this at the forefront of everything we do at Kid Ventures is what keeps me focused on making sure that the decisions we make, whether it be new services, hiring, expanding etc. are driven by this purpose.
