We had the good fortune of connecting with Daisy Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daisy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Leaving home at 17, I would say is pretty risky, navigating my early 20s in Chicago and Hawaii presented its own set of challenges. Moving to a new city like San Diego, where I knew no one, was another risky venture. Life, in my view, is inherently filled with risks, and one can either succumb to fear or take action. I identify as a risk-taker and consider myself a visionary. I believe that if you want something in life really bad, you’ll do anything it takes to get it. And if you don’t, then you didn’t want it that bad.

Risks have been instrumental in shaping my life. Every experience, be it positive or negative, has played a significant role in defining who I am today. This philosophy extends to my businesses, which are rooted in my personal experiences, particularly centered around mental health and I hope other people can relate to it as well. I believe in the power of self-love and self-belief, emphasizing that the world is yours and its waiting on you to go get it.

Pretty Picnic Things, is a luxury picnic company overlooking the ocean. It encourages you to be present in moment and reflect on the beauty of the world when viewed through a more positive lens. An opportunity for people to appreciate and embrace the beauty that surrounds them.

Pretty Mindset, my lifestyle clothing business, is about our mentality and how it can be a positive, confident, and pretty one, as everyday we have the opportunity to become a better friend, sister, or person. Both businesses provide a platform to support other creators/vendors within the community.

“Daisy’s World” is an engaging comic book series initiated in 2023, inspired by my alter ego. It revolves around the idea that she believes in deserving the best in life. The upcoming “Daisy and Mia’s Adventures” is a collection of children’s books I plan to release in my early 30s. The goal is to inspire kids, emphasizing that they can achieve anything in life if they believe in themselves along side my best dog friend, Mia.

Everything in my life was from taking risks against my ego and fear of failure. Through my journey, I’ve become a visionary and a proactive individual, challenging myself to overcome fears and embrace risks. Ultimately, these experiences allowed me to discover that Chicago is my favorite city, experience some of the best and worst years in Hawaii, and establish my businesses in San Diego. It’s like my Pinterest board became my reality and I get to share it all with my dog, Mia. This is just the beginning.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart is my genuine commitment to giving without expecting anything in return. I believe in uplifting others, even if it means not winning personally. When I started my business, my primary goal was to give back to the San Diego community.

Pretty Picnic Things collaborates with various San Diego vendors, striving to create better picnic experiences. Whether it’s partnering with photographers, food vendors, or holding clothing drives for local shelters, our focus is on meaningful collaboration.

With Pretty Mindset, ethical production is a priority. A percentage of every purchase goes toward supporting climate change initiatives. It also allows for collaborations with those who perhaps dont have a platform and would like to create art, clothing, or accessories for the brand.

My journey in business involved asking questions, reading books, and networking. While it may not be easy, discipline and an outgoing personality helps a lot. I wont give up until I find the answers im looking for and ill help who ever I can along the way.

I want people to recognize that my brands are rooted in the philosophy of mental health. Believing in oneself, self-care, and pursuing one’s desires. My story encourages reflection on life’s ups and downs, promoting a pretty mindset in viewing the world. Gratitude is my key to happiness.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dad, Alberto Romero, is to thank. He came to this country as an immigrant with my mother to provide us the absolute most. He is a dreamer, adventurous, and a believer. He always says “ if you dreamt it, it’s already yours.”

I think it’s also fair to say that I would like to shout out myself, particularly my younger self. I’m so proud of her, look at how far we have come and will continue to go!

A heartfelt shoutout to my sister, Emily Romero, a talented creator known for her beautiful shrine boxes. Her sweetness, compassion, and love shine through in her creative work. He work can be found on Instagram as @delaluz222.

Lastly, to Milad Shamoun at Loan Goat, a dedicated and successful individual making a positive impact in the San Diego community by simplifying home purchases with fewer requirements and more closings. His energy is so impactful and motivating.
