We had the good fortune of connecting with Christiana Rojas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christiana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had a passion for making others feel more beautiful and when I decided to become an esthetician I was able to fully step into bringing that to the world. I was able to work with some amazing business owners some who have had their spas for years and some who were just getting started. I was able to learn the do’s and dont’s of the business. Taking in anything and everything I had developed a vision of what kind of business I would want to create. After 2 years of working for someone else I decided that it was time for me to step into my dream and open my own spa. Brave Beauty Spa came to be in 2016 because I wanted to bring more to the beauty industry I wanted it be different, sexy, fun, and a place people feel comfortable to come to. I didn’t just want it to be another day spa I wanted it to be different so I created an ultimate experience that is with the times. A place where people could come to too just relax and let the worries of the world fade, a place where when you leave you feel just a little more brave, a place where you not only feel beautiful on the outside but on the inside. I feel like I have created just that!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Most people don’t know this but I opened this business with what I had in my bank account which wasn’t much at the time and a leap of faith. Growing up we didn’t have much and I was on my own since high school. I knew that this was my future because I’ve always loved making others feel beautiful. It was a way for me to give back to the world and make a difference. I am here today because I’ve had the chance to have the best clients and I stand behind what brave beauty spa stands for. Beautifying those on the outside so they feel it more on the inside which gives them just a bit more bravery to face the world with confidence. I wouldn’t say that this journey has been easy but its been worth every tough time because the outcome is what I have created. BB has been a place I called home everyday for almost 4 years. Brave Beauty Spa is not just day spa. Its a place where people come to vent about their hard day or relationship problems, its a place where a woman just got done with chemotherapy and wants to get her lashes done to make her feel more beautiful, its a place where a bride comes to look perfect for her special day, its a place where a teenager who has extreme acne can come and get clear skin and its a place where people can come in a feel more empowered to be themselves. This business and the clients in it have changed my life and I am so blessed and grateful for it all! I’ve always wanted to bring a different experience to the spa setting and I strive for it to be brave and beautiful. The story of brave beauty spa is just beginning so get ready we will have new treatments, new employees, and new locations! So let me ask the world…Are you ready to do it the brave beauty way and face the world flawlessly?!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh I love this!! Well we are in San Diego and this place has so many amazing spots. For me when I have people come visit I love doing the tour of San Diego. The days are consumed with hikes and beaches then its all these for every night of the week. Monday I would start off in La Jolla for sunset and dinner. I love Dukes Restaurant or Herringbone. Tuesday is a no brainer Old Town for Taco Tuesday start off at Tahona Bar for some tequila tastings and then walk around and decide on somewhere to go you can’t go wrong even if you are feeling sushi Harney Sushi is the bomb. Wednesday start of at Balboa park walking around and then I would do North Park they have some of the best food spots and breweries . Some of my favs are One Door North, Alexander’s, Tabu Shabu, and Underbelly. Thursday I would do Coronado and walk around the shops and go the The Hotel Del then get dinner at The Henry or Buona Forchetta and moo time for dessert. Friday I would do little Italy Morning Glory for breakfast then go walk the waterfront go to the food hall and watch some live music have a glass of wine then go get dinner. There’s to many good restaurants but some of my favs are Ironside, Barbusa, and Born & Raised. After dinner go bounce around start off at Kettner Exchange and even to the oldest bar in San Diego The Waterfront. Saturday I would do downtown. Go watch sunset at The Nolen rooftop bar then Cowboy Star, Watergrill, or Meze Grill for dinner then head to the Oxford social club for night life or bounce around seeing the night life. I’m a country girl so Moonshine Flats is always a must especially for their dancing. Then Sunday is brunch at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse or Hornblower brunch cruise then either beach or spa day at Brave Beauty Spa. Sounds like a perfect week to me!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will be honest I could name off so many people who have been a huge support system and mentor in my life especially in running this business. During these times and being in quarantine I have seen an over wavering support and love from everyone! There is someone who I have been so blessed to have in my circle and that’s my life coach Randi Halaway. Quick back story she started off as one of my clients at a spa I was working at years ago. She stayed loyal to me as I started my journey to open my own spa and we became great friends. She was a successful salon owner when we met and now she is an even more successful life coach changing so many women lives including mine. She has pushed me in so many ways to truly discover my potential and how I can be the best business owner I can be. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her mentorship and to be honest this is only the beginning of what her and I are going to accomplish and bring to Brave Beauty Spa.
