We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Jackman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chloe, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At the core of Chloe Jackman Studios we value community. We are a Black, woman-owned business in SF Bay area – representation matters!
We work with a variety of nonprofits and community organizations to offer beautiful images that they can use to promote their services and continue to thrive at a price point that is affordable for them. Most of these orgs are centered around youth with a focus on BIPOC children and the vibrant futures they deserve.
We partner almost exclusively with BIPOC/women/LGBTQ+ vendors
Our goal is to provide outstanding, vibrant, creative shoots for clients who share our values and worldview:
BIPOC/women/LGBTQ+ owned businesses
Ethical business practices
Equitable and sustainable supply chains
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This past June I celebrated 10 years as a full-time Photographer and Chief and what sets me apart is me! I am a personality first everything else second kind of person. My clients tell me over and over that so much of my gift is that I make them feel beautiful, vibrant, joyful, raw, real, and most importantly safe and comfortable.
Running a successful business in THE MOST EXPENSIVE CITY in the world, is no easy feat and I am damn proud, it has been one of the greatest honors and biggest challenges of my life. In the moments I thought I wouldn’t be able to overcome or push through I am motivated by the knowing that I am doing exactly what I was put on this earth todo and that is at the core of everything for me.
As with many businesses, 2020 changed everything. I had to dig deep to pull myself from what felt like the ashes of that traumatic time, pivot and pivot again. Look to my clients and community for guidance and support and by the end of the year, I had brought on an operations manager ( Tara you rock my world!) and begun exploring work, that I now realize I’d always wanted todo. Help ethical, sustainable, and woke businesses (large and small) tell their story, their way. This year we are now a team of 3 (Wooohooo Adri!) and redefining yet again who we are and how we will continue to tell beautiful stories.
