We had the good fortune of connecting with Chamar Latanja and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chamar, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
While I run my business (three years in) with intentionality, I didn’t choose my business, it chose me. It is important to me that there is purpose and passion behind everything that I do. I have always had a heart to help people and it has always made me happy to see them succeed. My business motivational speaking, Life Transformation Coaching, writing came out of a need that I had. I had to work incredibly hard to become a whole, healed woman after my divorce because the resources weren’t readily available. I ended up creating what I wished I had, honesty with the process, being unashamed to share the failures that led to victory and someone to guide me along the way that had already been in my shoes. My need became my seed, my purpose and my passion. As I grow stronger, I make it a point to reach back and help other women grow stronger and create a life that they love living. This has evolved over the years to me now helping men and women rebuild, transform and reclaim their power; get unstuck, stop being afraid and unapologetically live their lives and walk in purpose.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Life Transformation Coach, I help women and men rebuild, transform and reclaim their power after divorce or tough breakups. I also help people who have felt as if they have gotten stuck due to what has happened to them in life or their own fear, tackle the mindset of “I’m afraid” and “I can’t” and I help them live and work fearlessly, and begin living in purpose. According to my clients what sets me apart is “Chamar actually cares about you as a person, yes you are paying her but you are not just a number. Chamar truly wants you to succeed and will go above and beyond to help you get to where you want to go”. I understand full well that I am in business and that I have bills to pay, however, this is a calling from God that I treat as such. Money comes and goes, if you are a good steward it will grow, but I have peoples lives in my hand and I will not treat that life as just another invoice. I believe that where I am in business goes against the “norms” of business, for instance when Covid-19 first happened and millions of people lost jobs, I decided to create a webinar that would help people learn how to step into building their own business. It was faith based, highly engaging and only $8, most business people told me I was operating in fear and it wasn’t smart to sell a course for so little. Word of Mouth went out about the webinar and I have since secured more clients, daily sales, numerous speaking engagements secured and I have lacked nothing. The hardest part about being in business has been this: Who am I when things are great, who am I when things are bad? I had to overcome that by refusing to compare, refusing to listen to the critics, truly understanding the power of doing things my way and letting my faith lead the strategies. My brand is a very “no person left behind” brand, and when you come to the coaching program, speaking engagements etc. You will leave changed!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are going to the water! Restaurants on the water, traveling to the pier, outside of the mall (which I know, I know quite cliche but I love to shop!) anything that settles your soul and brings you peace is where it’s at. Now some real excitement? Sky Diving!!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is exciting! I would first like to shout out: My daughter, she has been with me every step of the way! She has been my cheerleader, my photographer, my videographer, my assistant, my editor and more importantly an amazing daughter. Andromeda Raheem, founder of She Wins Society. When I first met her and her company it was named Women By Choice. I was in one of the darkest periods of my life going through a divorce and feeling alone. She took a chance in me (with no portfolio to show, just one writing submission) and brought me on as a blogger. She had no idea that becoming an author was a childhood dream that I had given up on, so blogging got my creativity flowing again. She then allowed me to become Editor in Chief of the Blog which we ran side by side for years. Present day we are sister friends and still business associates. She was with me when I was fining myself, becoming an author, becoming an entrepreneur and is still with me. Shameika Dean, I met her through the organization above. She spoke life into me, poured into me and loved me through my all over the place days and even now I can pick up the phone and remind her that I love her, and she will say it right back. She saw entrepreneurship in me when I refused to see it in myself. Ebony Cattouse of Ebony Cattouse Events, I was maid of honor at her wedding and I watched her run her business effectively and passionately. One year I worked the door at her event, she fussed at me to write my book and build my business which I started, the next two years I would serve as keynote speaker to her events. Chelsea Smith, she allows me to be me unapologetically! Another woman who started out as a business associate and has moved to business associate and now friend. We have prayed with each other, would cry on the phone with each other and now we greet each other with a true “hey sis!” Natalie Louis we have been ambassadors together, on the same stage together, booked for the same events and have prayed with each other over the phone. We still continue to shout each other out and the love has been genuine. Lastly but not least as they have made the most impact and continue to do so. The strongest women that I know, my mother Cheryl Giles, my auntKaren Payne and my grandmother Darlene Walker. Without their guidance I wouldn’t know strength, resiliency, the ability to never give up. My spiritual gifts are always strengthened through their targeted guidance and prayers.
