We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Flynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, what are you inspired by?
I am most inspired by the force of Mother Nature. She is always evolving, always creating, and there is infinite magic from this space. In those moments of reflection and observation of the surrounding elements, I am inspired to also create, to birth something new.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I truly believe everything we create is “art”, and, like my father, I have explored and pursued many avenues. I’m a fire dancer and aerialist, I’m an aerial yoga instructor. I tapped into the business world and became the Creative Director at Trilogy Sanctuary and am also the cofounder of a new food company called Pacha. I also have a craft company called Native Knots, where I create macrame and crochet goods, which can be found exclusively in TOTEM Boutique or online. I am a Certified Doula, and I am now launching an organization called Mama Be Alchemy, which works to support birthing mothers and families. I would say that the realm of pre- and postnatal care is where my deepest passion lies. I am excited to continue to work with more mamas-to-be, helping them harness their inner power and thrive through a life stage that can often seem intimidating or overwhelming. Regarding lessons learned throughout my professional journey: I would say the most challenging (yet exciting) aspect of my professional life has been focusing on taking everything one step at a time. Like anything in life, there is a process, and it is important to honor the process. Through that process, I’ve learned a lot about myself and my professional and personal endeavors.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to take visiting friends to enjoy a delicious healthy meal on the rooftop of Trilogy Sanctuary, maybe join an aerial yoga class if we are feeling adventurous. Then go visit Balboa Park where there are numerous sights to explore, such as gardens and museums.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate much of where I am at today to my parents, each teaching valuable lessons that have translated to different parts of my journey. My mother loves unconditionally and has supported me through all my endeavours, she also showed me how to be a nurturing mother. My father was a creator, an entrepreneur who passed that spirit along to me, and taught me about principle, business, and ultimately doing what I loved. And I would also like to dedicate where I am today to my loving and supportive partner. He always encourages me to do what I love, he shows me new perspectives, he nourishes my soul, he encourages me to grow, and is an amazing father.
