Meet Billy Guan

We had the good fortune of connecting with Billy Guan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Billy, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
A lot of people think that in Retirement Planning or Investing, when you put money into investments you have to bear the risks with taking the ups and downs with the stock market. There are a lot of financial strategies that you can use if you have the right financial planner that can completely negate the downsides of the stock market when it crashes but lets you participate in the upside of the stock market when it soars.
Most people do not know these strategies because they are uneducated about the options that are out there. Most people are only given the retirement options through work such as a 401k…and those types of investments can take full amount of risk if the market ever goes down. Situations like 2008 can really destroy a person’s financial security if they do not have the proper types of asset classes in place to mitigate those risks.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a financial consultant. I help clients with financial planning such as Wealth protection, estate planning, succession planning, tax free retirement strategies, as well as living benefit protection in case of sickness or incapacitation. Recently I have also expanded my financial services practice in helping clients that are in the adult entertainment and content creation space because it is an industry that has been historically underserved and financially discriminated against. What sets me apart from other financial advisors is that I work with clients with every facet of their finances including things like debt management, budget awareness, and financial education. Typically financial advisors do not get paid for services such as this so they do not work with clients in that regard. I show clients how to become millionaires through legacy planning in Life and beyond death for generations to come.
I got to where I am today on the shoulders of those who came before me. I learned from my mentors, connected with people at the top of their industries, and learned from VP’s of large financial organizations. Becoming a financial consultant is easy, becoming a financial professional requires a lot of study, diligent work, understanding, and interpersonal skills developed through consistent study and practice. That’s just the personal education part.
The business practice part was even harder than the self study. I had to overcome a lot of challenges there through dealing with people that reneged on their deal, people that were not of their word or did not have integrity in how they operate, and deals that fall through because of other circumstances. Those things happen, and if the professional is too in their feelings about things like that, they can burn themselves out of the business very quickly. I am lucky that I have the mental toughness that let’s me pick myself up off the ground quickly when things like this happen.
I learned in business, you really have to surround yourself with positive and uplifting people. If you surround yourself with people that are always complaining, venting, or gossiping about others…it will be a recipe for disaster for your business. That is probably the biggest thing I learned in business…who you work with matters.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so many places to eat and enjoy in SoCal that it’s hard to pick. I’d probably take my friend to places like Disneyland, Magic Castle, or Koreatown in LA to eat KBBQ, or a Live show whether it be Comedy, Magic, or Music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of the most important people to my career is my mentor and CEO of Arkshire Financial, Jason Uhrin. I was one of the first handful of agents that started working with him to build up our financial firm over 10 years ago. He gave me an opportunity and the skillsets necessary to grow and thrive in the financial services industry. He’s been an integral part of my business. I truly believe that he is one of the people that have saved my life from mediocrity. He continues to be a source of inspiration, motivation, and someone that I aspire to become more like.
