We had the good fortune of connecting with Armand King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Armand, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was raised by entrepreneur parents who taught me to own businesses and instilled core values that helped mold me into an entrepreneur. I watched them both grind in multiple different businesses to pay the bills. I was pushed to participate in all of them. I owe these seeds that were planted to helping mold me into the man I am today.

Exposure early to different things in a youths life are extremely important. Im currently working on a youth mentoring curriculum called Walk With Me Impact that will help plants these seeds and help save lives. Early prevention is the key to help kids navigate through this crazy world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been drawing, writing, and story telling my entire life. Literally since I was a Elementry age kid. From movie scripts, comic books, and many other creative things Ive loved creating. Im proud to have been able to incorporate my own hand drawn artwork in the Walk With Me Impact curriculum.

I got to where I am today by not giving up and pushing regardless of anything that seems to be negative. Staying strong has been hard but I’ve learned to enjoy the challenges and the struggle. I don’t know how I overcame the challenges. I owe it all to God, my commitment, and good people coming in my life.

I’ve learned recently that you have to be ok with not forcing things and relationships. Not everybody is meant to be in your life. If its not organic don’t panic.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place in my city is Ocean Beach. Hippie Vibes all the time. I miss Club Kingston at Winstons.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As I have been in the process of creating the Walk With Me Impact curriculum I have had to think about mentorship in depth. This process had me look at all of the different influences in my life that I could use to help the kids. My influences are mentors like Minister Hugh Muhammad, Pastor Terry Brooks, My Mother, and Chef Jeff Henderson. I really get a lot of my mentorship for people I don’t know like Eric Thomas and Gary Vee. These are my business and life mentors. Outside of these influences I know the major thing behind my passion are my brothers Lawrence Smith, Richard Wilson, Kenny McKnight, and William Waggoner. Honestly the loss of my friends lives has been the main source of my passion.
