We had the good fortune of connecting with Madi Rindge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My mom loves to tell the story of when I was 5 years old at my own birthday party, and I went around personally handing out cake to everyone (and there were like 100 people lol). Ever since I was a little kid, I was drawn to taking care of people. And the way I would get to do that on a large scale, was to run my own business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The most exciting part of my art is that it’s ever evolving! It grows and changes as I grow and change as a person and artist. No matter where I go, my art is a direct reflection of that and I feel so lucky to have an outlet that continues to push me emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. It definitely continues to be a challenging path but that’s what makes this feel so right. The way to overcome the challenges is to continue to become more secure with yourself, and not base any of your worth on exterior validation. I’ve learned SO much in this life and I’m stoked to keep learning! The coolest thing is that we’ll never be done learning, which to me is a reminder to enjoy the process. And I’m totally preaching right now because I have to remind myself of these exact ideas haha. But we’re all on a path to somewhere and we have so much to choose from so choose wisely! And if you fuck up, well we’re human and we make mistakes. One of my favorite quotes right now is “the only way out is through”. If you stick with it long enough, it’s just a matter of time until you get what you’re looking for <3
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For my pre-covid itinerary: We would go to Deep Creek Hot Springs which has the most insane hot springs/hike ever! It’s beautiful. I love getting outdoors even if it’s for a walk on the beach, a hike, bike riding, or even driving up the coast if I’m feeling lazy or it’s cold haha. I love finding new lookout spots too and having car picnics. I’d absolutely take this person to some of my favorite dispensaries and bars. Davey Waynes and La Descarga are a couple of my favorite places to dance and get drinks! Bacari, Canal, Neighbor, The Otherroom are all some of my favs! I’m obsessed with coffee shop exploring so we’d go everywhere from Menotti’s in Venice, to Neighborhood in Hollywood, to Lou’s The French on the Block in North Hollywood! FOOD ugh I love trying new restaurants lol. Some of my favorites are Pizzana, Open Sesame, Sugarfish, Mhzh, Republique, Sushi Gen, Din Tai Fung, Scopa, Here’s Looking At You, Mashti Malones (ice cream NOM), Shake Shack, oh I could go on for dayssss. When we’re wanting a chill night in, I’d smoke us out and we’d dance in the living room to Jazmine Sullivan, D’angelo, Mahalia, Goldspace, Col3trane, Joyce Wrice etc.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people and sources of love and inspiration that I draw from, but one of the most important people in my life is my best friend, Pam! She’s been there through everything and picks me up when I’m down. I can’t imagine life without her!
