We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelic Audea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelic, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, I never planned on starting my own business. It started originally from just bringing goodies to work for special occasions from there I had a very small following from my coworkers. They would eventually ask me to bake them all sorts of desserts such as fruit tarts and cheesecake bites. I would post it on Instagram then more friends would request what I made so that is what started my little business called NomNom Goodies. Growing up, I always had a love for baking and I would even pretend that I’m hosting a cooking show prior to the existence of youtube or social media vlogging because it was just a fun outlet to express my creativity. I would look up to my dad because he’s an amazing cook and I would always try to make desserts as a child that would complement his delicious dishes.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This may be a common answer but what sets me apart is my creativity and the love I put into all my desserts. I have learned so much being a self-taught baker, that through years of trial and error to provide that NomNom goodies twist to all my products. This continues to be a learning experience of how to run a small business, being the only employee while having a full-time job. I had to learn the hard way to pace myself with the number of orders I was receiving. Working in the dental field during the day and working on my desserts at night. Creating that balance was a huge challenge for me and one that I’m still trying to balance today. One thing that I would like the world to know about myself and my business is that I love every minute of this process. The way I can personalize desserts for my customers, and to help them enjoy a special moment in their lives means so much to me. Receiving pictures and feedback on how they enjoyed what I created made all the sleepless nights and coffee-filled mornings worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As you may be aware that living in Temecula, California we are known for all the different types of wineries. So day 1 through day 4 we would be visiting all the wineries we have in town, aside from wine, the Temecula wineries have the best types of restaurants and breathtaking views. Then to close out the week, we would have to visit old town Temecula for more delicious food with a party atmosphere. If you didn’t notice already, I’m a complete foodie so everything we do must revolve around food. I feel that being spontaneous is important to have a great wholesome time, through my experience the best times to have with friends are to just enjoy each other’s company.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to personally shout out and thank 4 beautiful and strong women that shaped me and my business. Thank you Emma from @SemihomemadeMomma, Natali from @Mamabakescakes_, Janette from @La.vida.cakery, and Sora from @ Alpacapicnicandevents. Emma, Natali, and Janette have all inspired and motivated me to start my own business, they helped me gain important insights into running a small business, especially around the Temecula Valley area. We constantly push and support each to move forward in creative progress and to hopefully bring smiles and enjoyment to the people that we serve. A special shout-out to Sora, her encouragement means so much to me, knowing how successful she is with her business it’s such a blessing to know that she truly believes in me, and for that, I couldn’t be happier.
