We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Gough and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, what principle do you value most?
One of my companies core values is, Make a Difference every day. We all make an impact in the world and leave a mark. The question is how and what kind? If we are guided by a solid moral compass and are inspired to make a positive impact, we can change our communities for the better through our talents, passion, and hard work. It is really about being intentional with our time and impact. What difference are you going to make today? Who’s life can you change for the better?
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Blending my social work background with my talent acquisition experience is what sets me apart from most professional recruiters. I approach recruiting with a human-first mindset and truly care about making a difference for my clients and job seekers. Recruiting takes a great deal of grit and tenacity! I am known for going above and beyond to secure top talent and to make the best match possible. The mission of my company, CultivHIRE, is to build happier and higher-performing workplaces. We do this through purpose-driving recruiting practices and connecting top performers to organizations with strong cultures and clear missions, which ultimately make a positive impact in the world. We are happy & high-performing workplace community builders!
The biggest lesson I have learned as an entrepreneur is to be intentional and have a clear plan in mind. Set yourself up with solid operational procedures and a business foundation to support your growth long-term. If you don’t know how to set yourself up properly, find mentors and coaches who can support you. Build a bench of professionals who can support you and your clients.
I am most proud of my MADGive Program. As a socially-minded and philanthropic recruiter, I am committed to making a difference in my community. When my firm makes a placement with an organization, we make a contribution to the noble cause or nonprofit of their choice. Throughout the years I have been honored to donate to many worthy causes and organizations that are changing the world for the better. We MADGive to Make A Difference!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1. Definitely a beach day! As an active-duty military spouse, we enjoy taking advantage of enjoying a less-crowded military beach, Gator Beach in Coronado! For extra special guests, we will stay a night or two at the Navy Lodge on North Island which is amazing for quiet beaches, firepits, and pool time!
2. If we are considering tourist attractions, my family loves San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and exploring any of the beach towns.
3. There are so many amazing places to eat! Top of the list for me is Born and Raised, The Crack Shack, Ironside Fish and Oyster Bar, Din Tai Fung in UTC, and Sea 180 in IB. If you are in East County we love Anthony’s Fish Grotto as a family and the Vine Cottage has the most delicious ceviche!
I could go on and on! I LOVE SAN DIEGO!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout-out to the Conscious Capitalism books and movement. Thank you to the authors, Raj Sisodia and John Mackey for writing three powerful and informative books (Firms of Endearment, Conscious Capitalism, Conscious Capitalism Field Guide) focused on liberating the heroic spirit of business. If every business operated in a conscious and purpose-driven manner, the impact would be incredible. Businesses can elevate humanity!
