We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrianna Moran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrianna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My first thought was whoa this is a risk and will it pay off ? I then started to weigh my options and the more I thought about the pros of investing in myself the more inspired and excited I became . The choice became very clear after that . It’s been a dream of mine to be my own boss and it took a lot of rejection and unprofessional people to finally push me into my own business .. it’s something you have to be ready for it’s not just something you can do without putting in the work .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hair is my art ,and painting hair is my passion . I always say if you love hair your not really working . Cosmetology has always come so naturally to me but it wasn’t always an easy career path . I had a lot of obstacles in the way but I always chose to keep pushing through . I’ve learned that kindness is always the way to get ahead, and that helping your fellow stylist is a small gesture that goes along way .. karma is real ,so give what you want in this world .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d fist take my girl out to have sushi at sushi deli in hillcrest they have the best affordable sushi ! Delicious and saki bombs is a must. We would definitely have to hit up the bars in downtown bar crawling is the best with your bestie in town . Tipsy crow is a fun hole in the wall and always end up at las hadas for shots . We love to dance so who knows we might make it to Rich’s San Diego to dance and party with drag queens and go go boys .. so fun to let loose with the gals . After a great night we would have to go to pacific beach for ceviche and the beach to relax and enjoy the sun .. but anywhere is San Diego is the place to be with your bestie.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank my fellow hairstylists who have given me pointers ,advise ,and encouragement throughout my career .. without those strong supportive creative people I would never have grown into who I am today . With all the tips and tricks and education they have shared with me I can truly say thank you to those kind individuals out there .
