Meet Adrian Pelkus: Artificer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Pelkus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrian, let’s jump right in. What are you most passionate about? Why?
July 1st will be our 35th anniversary in the business of bringing ideas to life and manufacturing them here in America’s Finest City, San Diego. I have lived my whole life as an inventor and have spent decades supporting other inventors in realizing their dreams. It is a great feeling of accomplishment to go from a discussion of envisioning their idea, drawing and fabricating a working model, presenting the concept and launching a business from there. New ideas create new businesses which create new jobs!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m an artificer, a hired professional inventor. With a varied high tech background in electronics, mechatronics, systems & controls and manufacturing. I’ve created prosthetics, medical systems and devices, plasma thin film coatings, radiation monitoring equipment, industrial machines and controls and multiple consumer electronics products. I self educated myself in all the fields I have been awarded patents in, 17 to date with a few pending of which I am most proud of accomplishing. It was without patents that I was most taken advantage of, that being my biggest lesson along the way. My video, The 17 Mistakes Inventors Make spells out the other lessons I’ve learned the hard way: https://youtu.be/ZGeek0PkjnE I’ve discussed new ideas with over 1000 individuals and teams and coached dozens. As a EIR with CONNECT over a decade I mentored many on their journey to commercialization. Our business has provided the proof of concept to full manufacturing requirements for 35 years. We bring experience from both the business and technical sides of new product development.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
The historic Gaslamp district is a wonderful place to take visitors as well as where we go to treat ourselves on occasion. Lou & Mickey’s is one of our favorite steak houses there. The town is alive with colorful eateries and people having fun enjoying the atmosphere. A special treat is staying at the Omni hotel downtown and crossing over to Petco Park to see a game. The bay and downtown waterfront boardwalk are terrific to visit and a jot over to Coronado Island is always fun!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our business enters its 35th year as my wife Amy and I celebrate our 40th year wed. We started the business together 5 years after we exited the USN which is where we met. Through all these years Amy has run the operations side of the company while I ran the R&D side. Together we have helped start up over a dozen businesses and have developed over 300 new product ideas. Thus, this is why we are called A Squared Technologies, Inc.!
