We had the good fortune of connecting with Shy But Flyy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shy But Flyy, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is a huge part of being an artist. Trying a new sound or going with a new way of playing is always exciting for me. I don’t like to limit myself so I like to take risks even down to my wardrobe. It has gotten me far.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a blues singer and a spoken-word artist. I am most excited about my band “She Wears Black”. Right now we are recording and playing shows. I got to where I am now by working hard and building within my community. I also host open mics and love to bring people together. A lesson I’ve learned along the way is to follow my heart and be kind even in business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town visiting I would take them many places. To eat: tantalum, roxannes, the lighthouse, Thai gourmet To drink: 4th street vine, blind donkey, the exhibition room, Alex’s bar To hang: retro row, que sera, the pike, the bluff

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
