We had the good fortune of connecting with Louise Latham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Louise, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I met my business partner, Travis on the first night in a new class. After we talked we both decided we were going to make movies together. We decided to create a production company and make our own content. We started it in the midst of the Covid shutdown which seems kind a crazy but it did give us time to build a foundation for the company.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have successfully produced several webisodes and shorts for youtube. There is a fairly small yet active indie film community in San Diego and I have been very blessed to have worked with many of the folks here and have actually been able to just jump in and learn. It has been quite a journey getting to the point where in January we are actually producing our first feature length film. I liken a production to putting a puzzle together. All the pieces have to fit perfectly together to create a successful production and end product.

What I would want the world to know is that I did not have a background in acting/producing. I was a stay at home mom and still a mom and wife and just jumped into this new career feet first at the age of 50. I am now 58 and haven’t given up. Don’t ever think you are too old or inexperienced to try something new. No matter your age you always have a story and calling on your life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Top of my list is the Midway. I love taking visitors to see the history and the ship, Seaport Village, Balboa Park, Sunset Cliffs, La Jolla, Hotel Del, Little Italy for the farmers market and if it is summer then a Padres game. Seaport Village has a new restaurant called Malibu Farms with a great view of the bay, coffee at Superbloom Cafe at Mission Bay Beach Club. Sheldon’s Service Station in La Mesa for coffee and breakfast. Janet’s cafe in Santee for great breakfast/lunch and homemade pastries. Phil’s BBQ is a must. Peohe’s on the bay in Coronado.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I turned 50 and my husband and I were about to be empty nesters so I came home and told my husband I think God is calling me to acting. I then started taking acting classes locally and was advised to go to LA and do some background to get on the bigger set and see if I liked it. A couple of years later my first night in a new acting class I met Travis and we decided to start a production company called MMXX Vision. God has given me the strength and courage to continue pursuing my career. This industry is not for the faint of heart and it is easy to get bogged down in the rejection. My husband is my biggest cheerleader and champion. Our children have been very supportive on this journey as well. Travis Land also deserves a shout out. He pushes me out of my comfort zone almost daily and gives me many pep talks when I have to do things that are not in my normal wheelhouse. I am very blessed to have many people in my life cheering me on and encouraging me.
