Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.
I guess you could say that performing and creating was in my blood. At the ripe ole age of 4 I would carry around a box with an aluminum foil stick. I’d stand on that box and speak into the stick saying “Now Demin” Now Demin. Parents thought I was sweating at first. Then soon realized I was saying “Now Ladies and Gentlemen”, Now Ladies and Gentleman. My mom said the only thing I’ve ever wanted was to be an actress and perform. Read more>>
My pursuit of a life and career rooted in and centered around the arts has never felt as if it were a choice to me. For as long as I can remember, I have considered myself to be an artist above all else and I have been unable to pull myself away from creating, visiting museums, and immersing myself in as many realms of the art world as possible. I simply have never been able to imagine myself leading a life that did not revolve around the arts. Since childhood, I have been beyond intrigued by diverse arts practices and have gained experience in everything from painting and drawing to ceramics to stained glass, and have loved every second of it. Hello, my name is Jordyn Schutz and I go by ExxKoi. I’ve decided to pursue an artistic career because i’ve always been passionate to the sound of music. Music is a gift and it made me who I am today. If it weren’t for my older brother Jared Vargas then I may have never sought out taking it as far as I did now. I’m so proud of the progress i’ve made and it’s amazing to bring my ideas to life.
