Jordan McIlwain | Classic Physique Athlete

I got to a point in my life where I decided it’s time to stop running from what God has destined for me. It’s time I stop making the excuse. It was time that i stop telling myself to fully commit later and start echoing God’s voice saying now. I had it in my heart that the time was absolutely now and I cant afford to waste another second stalling on what was destined for me. So I took out a sheet of paper and wrote down my goals, numbering them and pinned it on a wall in my bedroom. Then I started with number one. Read more>>

Shalini Seneviratne | Beauty founder

I moved to the States (New York) 4 years ago from Asia and was immediately caught up by the energy and the feeling that the American dream was real. And I met founders and thought leaders and saw the spark in their eyes, I really wanted in on that! I had worked for 15 years in corporate and I felt like I was done working for someone else. I came up with a crazy idea of wanting to design shirts that said “Boss Babes”. The purpose of that was to show that us women work hard to reach our goals. Read more>>

When the COVID-19 pandemic began the world was forever changed; especially the world of dance. All local dance studios were closed for the foreseeable future leaving a lot of dancers confused about the future of their training. I began brainstorming. How could I offer comprehensive dance lessons when we weren’t allowed to even leave our homes? It was during this difficult time that the idea of Twinkle Toes Today was born! Since we opened in 2020, we have offered virtual dance & music classes to those who cannot access in-person lessons or feel more comfortable in a one-on-one class setting. Read more>>

Erin Nkele | Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Maryland

What a great question! As a Black licensed mental health counselor, I felt there was a need missing within the Black community regarding mental health. Black therapists are less than 3% of all therapists across the disciplines. Before the pandemic, I was working in a government based agency and saw how my Black clients responded to me when they found out I was Black! One client claimed she was so happy when she met me because she could have never been so open and free to talk about her thoughts and feelings regarding her assault with another therapist of a different race.
