We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvonne Metz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yvonne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was due to wanting to be able to be a stay at home parent but also bring in an income. At the time my daughter was going to be a Freshman in Highschool and my son was not here yet. But really felt the timing was right to start.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a crafter most of my life. I LOVE all Crafts. I love crocheting and have been doing it since the age of 11 or 12. I am also a Paper Crafter and I do a little sewing. I have to say the thing that I’m most proud of is learning the art of Amigurumi. I love creating dolls or animals. Each one is so unique and has their own personality. I got to where I am by never giving up. It’s not easy when you have self doubt. BUT I told myself 2020 was going to be my time to step out of my comfort zone and I’m still doing just that. I keep pushing myself everyday. Not everything is going to work but you just have to keep trying. Lessons I’ve learned is to not give up. If you start to self doubt yourself step back take a deep breath and push through it. What I want the world to know about me or my brand? Hmmm……that with everything that I create I put my heart and soul into them. I LOVE what I do. Love to share and I LOVE to teach it as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had a lot of encouragement over the years from friends and family alike. They have stood behind me for many years. I have to say that the most recent came from a special friend “Michelle Harvey” who I met in March of 2020 in an App called “Next Door”. She created a FB Group called “San Diego Face Mask Sewing Group”. Where I’ve also met so many wonderful people who have touched my life. Meeting Michelle helped me so much business wise to get out of my comfort zone. Bouncing ideas off each other and her confidence in me has pushed me to keep going and working my business. Her friendship is absolutely priceless. I have to say we are 2 peas in a pod! She’ll never know how grateful I am to her.
