We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvette King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yvette, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Crowned Rentals has always been rooted in community. I’m a proud Long Beach mom, and my family is deeply woven into this city through Girl Scouts, AYSO soccer, school events, and all the little moments that make a neighborhood feel like home. Because of that, my business has never been just about décor. It’s about creating spaces where people can celebrate, connect, and feel proud of their community.

We work with schools to highlight student achievements, with small businesses to celebrate grand openings, and with local organizations to bring their visions to life. We get to support fundraisers, cultural celebrations, sports championships, and everyday milestones like baby showers and birthdays. Those moments matter. They bring people together, and they make life feel fuller.

At Crowned Rentals, our entire purpose is to help people see and honor their special moments. Whether it’s a family celebrating a new chapter, a business marking a big win, or a school recognizing its students, we love being the team that helps elevate that memory. Long Beach and the greater Southern California community have supported us from the beginning, and being part of their celebrations is our way of giving back. We’re here to help people feel seen, celebrated, and connected, one event at a time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Crowned Rentals began in the most organic way. I was simply a mom who loved designing big, imaginative parties for my daughters. I shared those moments online, and people connected with them. That connection grew into a business and eventually into a warehouse full of inventory, clients, and community partnerships across Southern California.

Getting here was not easy. Stepping away for a few years affected the business, and rebuilding my momentum took intention. I experienced security concerns due to an unfortunate event that made me pull back from sharing my work publicly. Coming back meant trusting that there was still space for me in this industry and that my creativity still mattered.

The biggest lesson I have learned is that your setbacks do not diminish your value. They refine you. They give you clarity, grit, and a deeper purpose for why you show up.

What I want the world to know about Crowned Rentals is simple. We are here to celebrate YOU. Families, schools, students, small businesses, teams, and everyday people who deserve to feel special. We are proud to represent the Long Beach community and the surrounding Southern California neighborhoods. This business was built with heart, service, and a love for making moments unforgettable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Long Beach is one of the largest cities in California, and it honestly feels like a bunch of mini cities woven into one. If my best friend came to visit for a week, I would give them the real Long Beach experience, starting with my favorite pocket of the city.

We’d kick things off in Belmont Shore, where the beach is always full of energy. Volleyball courts packed, families out early, locals walking the boardwalk. And if it’s a Saturday, you’d definitely catch me out there playing in my beach volleyball league. After the beach, we’d walk over to The Win-Dow, a neighborhood staple with classic smash burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and the kind of shakes that taste even better when you’re still a little sandy.

From there, we’d head into Downtown Long Beach to explore the waterfront, visit the aquarium, and check out whatever festival or event happens to be going on that day because there’s always something happening downtown. For dinner, I’d take them to The Ordinarie, an American tavern with elevated comfort food, great cocktails, and the coziest vibe. It just feels like Long Beach.

Since this city is obsessed with sports in the best way, we would absolutely catch a game at California State University Long Beach. Their volleyball team is consistently one of the best in the nation. The energy in that gym is wild in the best way. Fans are loud, the games are intense, and the mascot always comes around to hype up the kids. My girls love it. GO BEACH!

We’d slow things way down with a visit to El Dorado Nature Center, which is one of Long Beach’s hidden gems. The trails feel peaceful and tucked away, almost like you’ve stepped out of the city completely. It’s my favorite reset spot.

And because Long Beach is growing and doing big things, I’d take them to see our new professional baseball team, the Long Beach Coast, playing at Wrigley Field. There’s a real buzz around their first upcoming season, and it just feels exciting to watch the city evolve.

We’d wrap up the week by supporting local small businesses, grabbing coffee at our neighborhood cafés, and doing a little boutique shopping. Long Beach really has a mix of everything. Beach, food, sports, nature, community. It’s the mix that makes this city feel like home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my mom. I grew up watching her build joy out of nothing. She was an entrepreneur in every sense. Fearless. Creative. Unapologetically herself. She taught me that girls can take up space, speak up, lead, and create their own lane. She always reminded me that the gifts we are given mean something, and that the real magic happens when we use them to serve others.

I watched her coordinate and decorate events for family, friends, and the community long before social media existed. She had this natural talent for turning gatherings into memories. That shaped me. It taught me that celebration is a form of love and that serving people is one of the greatest ways to bring joy into the world.

Everything I do with Crowned Rentals is rooted in what I learned from her. My drive, my creativity, and my heart for community all come from watching her live those values every day.
