We had the good fortune of connecting with Young Hutchison from Jumping Jack Flash, and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Young, why did you pursue a creative career?
For some kids growing-up in some areas, baseball players were their idols, and who they aspired to be. Or basketball players or perhaps even a fireman. But growing-up for me, all I ever wanted to be was a rock-star, there just wasn’t anything cooler than that to me. AND girls would talk to you if you were a cool musician dude…
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our group (www.jumpingjackflash.us) is now 17 years along in this business, and it was a lot of traveling and hard work. FUN hard work I should say, but I don’t know if I’d have it in me if I had to start all over again from zero!
We’ve always been very careful to nurture relationships, take care of business financially and ethically, and just keep on keeping on.
Somewhere along the line we got very good at creating the illusion of seeing the Rolling Stones in concert at casinos, performing arts centers, historic theaters, amphitheaters and civic and private events. But there have been heartbreaks along the way…
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
ROAD TRIP!! How about this mate, we’ll drive to Las Vegas at the end of October, stay at The Wynn, see Beatles Love one night and The Dirty Knobs (Mike Campbell from Tom Petty Band) the second night. Have some drinks by the pool (if it’s still hot out there in October?), and have a fine time.
Matter of fact, that is EXACTLY what I’m doing this October!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thank you to the Rolling Stones for being the main soundtrack to my life!
