We had the good fortune of connecting with Xavier Barrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Xavier, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The goal of starting RevBody was to inspire people to become better versions of them by bridging community and fitness. We wanted to start a culture of like minded individuals who can have a safe space to challenge themselves physically and mentally.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe what sets our journey apart from others is the fact we had to start this journey dealing with so much uncertainty because as soon as we started RevBody the Covid pandemic happened a month after and the world was thrown into chaos. Gyms closed down for months which challenged us to be creative to keep the business going. That led to us building our brand online and doing zoom classes. I’m most proud of how no matter what obstacle arose the momentum never stopped and we progressed from zoom classes, to building a successful business in a garage, to expanding to the world class facility we operate out of today.
I would want the world to know that everyday is a new opportunity to become better than you were yesterday and my team and I are dedicated to help people no matter where they’re at in their fitness journey. Every expert was a beginner at first!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s a great question. I would say to maximize San Diego and to take advantage of the good weather I’d take them to a nice brunch spot near the beach so after a good meal we can have a beach day. Given most of my friends are very active people we would go hiking and then at night go downtown or for a more chill vibe North Park/3rd Avenue.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The journey to where RevBody is has had so many helping hands in it. I want to thank God and leaning on my faith when times got hard. My family for the countless support behind the scenes to help make the vision reality.
My girlfriend and her family for all the sacrifices they made to help elevate the business. My partner Oscar Eberle who was my mentor in the fitness industry and showed how to lead group classes and personal train people. Together along with his family we built something special all while staying true to who we are and inspiring people along the way.
