We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Yarnall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Sojourn Healing Collective was inspired by a desire for support and community as I navigated my journey of healing myself physically and emotionally. In my early 20’s, I actively sought holistic wellness, optimal mental, physical, emotional and spiritual fulfillment and found that the healers or programs that were most impactful for me were in separate spaces, even requiring me to travel to different states at times. I dreamed of a space that had a variety of healing offerings under one roof and a community of supportive, like-minded people on their own personal healing journeys.
What should our readers know about your business?
Sojourn is a sacred healing space created for people to come as they are, align with their purpose and feel supported as they grow to their greatest potential. The sanctuary offers daily wellness practices such as yoga, meditation, sound healing, breathwork as well as spiritual workshops, trainings and other group healing experiences. Many people tend to feel lonely or confused as they navigate their healing journey. We focus on creating a safe, supportive space of belonging for those who are committed to their healing, personal growth and evolution so that they can feel connected to themselves and community, create wellness routines that elevate and enliven them, discover the healing medicine that is unique to them and live a fulfilled and abundant life. Today, Sojourn is where it is because we focus on serving the community. We respond to and ask our community what they need and aim to deliver on that. Like many businesses, we struggled immensely during the pandemic. However, we continued to serve in the new ways that were required of us; virtually, outdoors, on demand and live. We have learned that change is ever present and the only way out is through. When things do not go as planned or expected, it’s essential to be flexible, adaptable and in search of the next best option.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sunset Cliffs is always one of my first stops, a hike in Torey Pines, and beach time at windandsea or coronado beach. We’ll of course catch a yoga class at Sojourn or outdoors. A cocktail in OB or La Jolla for sunset. Those are the staples!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
