We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendy Wolf and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wendy, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When you become passionate about something I don’t believe giving up is an option. There will be very difficult days or work may be slow at times but how you feel in the moment you are creating your artwork is the answer. The morning of a wedding when I am with the bride styling her dream Hair contributing to her dream day. In the middle of a photo shoot having just created the perfect set of braids for an extravagant theme. Receiving galleries of endless smiles and reminders that you were a part of such a day. That’s how I know. I won’t give up working on my dream. There’s nothing more I love than being there for that bride on her day. Or that photo shoot coming to life ! Everything everyone hoped for on such a special day. If it truly brings you so much joy to be part of something , whatever it may be, that’s how you know not to give up.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Braiding ! And creating ! What sets me a part is my creativity. I’ve had the honor of my brides trusting me with and idea but no solid picture and allowing me to create. It’s truly rare when a bride is open to giving you creative freedom and It’s an amazing experience to be able to surprise them with a beautiful end result. I take a lot of pride in the happiness I can bring my clients. I absolutely love a stunned excited bride after seeing her bridal hair! Getting to where I am today was not always very easy it takes time to get your name out there and start getting noticed. I learned the best way to overcome this was to be grateful for every opportunity and patient with those you have not yet had. Patience is the best answer. Keep working hard, don’t lose your passion. The right people will see your talent and passion. I would love those reading this to know how dedicated I am to my clients happiness. My goal is to always create beautiful work for you to feel special and amazing in ! I will always be cheering you on ! No matter what your special occasion is I promise it’s just as important to me as it is to you and I will contribute my best work for it !
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Probably a little usual but I love love the Cheesecake Factory ! I would totally make sure we had a lunch or dinner there ! I mean have you tried the enchiladas with the corn tamales, just saying. Next If this is my best friend, they love shopping as much as I do! So we’d head to Victoria gardens. I basically grew up in this mall ! We’d hit up stores and stores than head to AMC for a movie ! They have an indoor bar and restaurant, you can have your food brought to your chair (which is a recliner by the way). If I’m lucky it’s raining on this movie night ! For the next few days I would hit up fun eateries by the house , a hike to Claremont loop and Etiwanda (to burn off all the food 😂) and anywhere home decor shopping is a go for me !
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank Melissa She is an amazing photographer and creator who I’ve worked with on many occasions. Not only is she great at what she does but she is also a good hearted person. I definitely grew so much in my time working with her. She’s given me so many opportunities to be creative and challenge myself. I’m just so thankful to be apart of her collaborations and to know her as a friend.
