We had the good fortune of connecting with Vicente Soto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vicente, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from an area of Texas called “The Valley”, the southern most tip of Texas. Specifically, I’m from a town called Palmhurst. Any one from there or has visited will tell you music is a huge part of the regional culture so having grown up with passionate, lively and hardworking people, it rubs off on you. For a huge majority you can not be from “The Valley” and in one way or another not have a solid work ethic, in your own lane of interest.

Mine happened to be music in all its forms, and applications.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I’m most proud of is that I found the courage to put myself and my art out there. And not keep it to myself as I did for some years. Since every project I do is a little piece of me, I was always afraid to allow the world to see me through my music in a very raw and vulnerable state. As the saying says, “we are our own worst critic..

I got to where I am today with a little luck, it’s said that luck is when preparation and opportunity meet and I wholeheartedly believe that was true for my case. Because I was in a point in my creative career where I was comfortable and capable musically, creatively and technically with finally putting myself out there. So when I finally came about meeting a film director in need of music for his film, he took a chance on me. Me not having any kind of portfolio or experience (at that point) scoring any film or tv. But I knew that I could step up and do it. And because of that director that took a chance on me I feel is a big part of why I’m where I’m at today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Id love to take them to all the mom and pop restaurants around town, there’s just a warmth and comfort there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Gosh, I could thank so many. But the biggest support and encouragement comes from my wife, who even when things were far from ideal always pushed and encouraged me to continue in my pursuit and passion of music.
