Meet Vanessa Cindy Erdody | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Cindy Erdody and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa Cindy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think it is very important as an artist to say yes to every possibility that comes your way. My choice of art is photography, media, and videos. In the first part of your journey, you have to accept free or very low-priced jobs. My success is definitely due to my openness to anything and consistently showing up and putting myself out there. You never know what life will bring or what connections you will make. I’d like to think I am an easy-going person with a good and open heart, which people feel when working with me. I make friends along the way and love what I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love capturing emotions, particularly at events, because I enjoy taking pictures of pure moments without having to pose anyone. I’ve done photoshoots of families in their homes in a very intimate and loving way, as well as corporate events, but my true passion lies in photographing musicians, artists, or anyone who is fully in their element. I like to move like a black panther in the background and just let the magic happen so I can capture it. My most repeated phrase is probably, “pretend I’m not even here.” I got here through dedication and love, but I’m not even close to reaching my full potential. I am patient and not overly competitive, so I believe that natural growth and clean intentions are guiding me to where I’m supposed to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take them to all the touristy spots first la jolla, pb, ob, make them eat tacos, and show them a bit of the local music scene. Wednesdays at Ocean Beach can be a very interesting experience for a foreigner. I am from Budapest, Hungary, so I understand the cultural shock of coming here, but by now, I’ve fully explored San Diego. I have people visiting me from Hungary all the time, and I’ve taken them on these tours before. But honestly it all depends if we are talking about someone from the US or someone from Europe. That two experience would be totally different in some ways.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is definitely going to my family and friends who were there for me emotionally supporting me at the beginning of my journey, the beginning of me picking up my camera the first time was definitely a cute and humbling time, my sister is actually a photographer herself and she gave me a lot of advice on how and what to do. When i look at photos I took at that time im kinda smiling how much my knowledge and my eyes changed. My vision and the way i edit photos and my focus is a forever shifting growing progression.
