We had the good fortune of connecting with Tulika Agarwal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tulika, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was looking for a safe and happy place for my puppy when we were going out on a vacation seven years ago. Nothing was available where my puppy feels at home. All the pet resorts or pet hotels were not what I had expected for a small dog. My experience with them was not the best and my dog was really not treated the way we had expected with the amount of money we paid. Then I came across Rover.com where you can easily find a Petsitter who actually treats your pets like their own in the convenience of their home. That gave me an idea to start doing Rover for other dogs. I can provide the best services that I never had from pet resorts/hotels for my dog. This will also provide play dates for my dog and keeps her happy with new company every few days. It’s been 6 years since I started @Tulikasfurrybuddies. With the best services I had provided to so many clients of mine, I was on the top five list of pet sitters in my area.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love what I do and I do what I love. I love dogs ever since I was little. Always been around them while growing up. I have been born and raised in India. My dad loved dogs and always had more then one dog sometimes up to 4-6 dogs around us. When I got married and came to US 20 years ago raising our family. My husband was non-dog person. So when my kids were old enough to ask for a pet he agreed to adopt a small dog for our family. We adopted a little chihuahua named Hope from Helen Woodward. Hope instantly became the integral part of our family. And while looking for boarding for her I came across Rover.com for petsitting. I started petsitting other dogs through It and then after 6 years, 90 dogs and 80 plus rave reviews later I can say I love petsitting. We treat each and every dog as our own. When the dog that we petsit comes back to us and show us how much he loves coming back to our home, that itself is the testament of my exceptional service. My family and I love having dogs over, take them to long walks, backyard play, gives tons of attention, love and snuggles to them all day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love visiting Point Loma light house in San Diego. This is by far the most favorite place to visit. Second would be Balboa Park with all the museums, Japanese garden, The Prado restaurant for dinner. And ofcourse the Del Mar Beach and La Jolla Cove and Mt. Soledad is definitely the best places to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a big Shoutout to my spouse and my family who has always encouraged me to follow my dreams. They are my biggest supporters and cheerleaders. Always have my back and supported me in every which way possible. Also, to all the furry friends who visited our home all these years and taught me how to love unconditionally. Thank you ❤️
