Meet Tony Sabeih | Casablanca & Vybz Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Sabeih and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was working as a chef for many. I had my own Italian restaurant in Poway many years ago and when the opportunity arrived for a hookah lounge with restaurant in downtown I took it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Casablanca has been open for over 10 years and we’ve come a long way. It is a successful hookah lounge, bar, and kitchen. Most of the staff has been with us for many years which encourages regular customers to come back. We have a welcoming vibe that makes our customers feel at home especially when the military comes back from deployment. We are a big military spot so when they come back from deployment they come directly to us and that makes us feel good.

I am most proud of how successful I have become. It was not easy. I overcame challenges by picking the right employees to help me. The lessons I’ve learned on the way was to not give up and take chances. Never be afraid, take risks, never take no for an answer. I did not see failure as an option and I always kept going. I want the world to know to never give up and never let anyone put you down. Always think positive. Go home if you’re being negative.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to seaport village. I would take to eat at Ruth’s Chris Steak house. To party and have fun I would take them to Casablanca & Vybz.

I’d like to thank my family for supporting me and for being very understanding along the way.
