Meet Tommy and Daneyel Walker | Entrepreneurs & Coffee Shop Owners

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tommy and Daneyel Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tommy and Daneyel, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
We could never do this alone so the single most important decision we made was building a team and creating opportunities so that we could scale.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Daneyel: What sets us apart is that we are married, which is what is most exciting but can be challenging. The way we always overcome this as a challenge is knowing to not cross over each other lanes, but honestly, we work well together, and very rarely does it feel challenging.
Tommy: I would say what sets us apart is unequivocal excellence and being willing to do things that nobody else wanted to do. Hell no, it was not easy but the best way to overcome the challenges is by learning to enjoy the journey and not looking for instant gratification while also not being afraid of change.
Tommy: In terms of our business and who we are, we understand the struggle and grew up in communities that didn’t have coffee shops. Entrepreneurship felt like a foreign language until we began to dive into our dreams and goals. We want to create a safe space to build opportunities, collaboration, and community. Everyone deserves that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
People always talk about going north but we will go south across the border. We will get fish Barria tacos, lobster tails, mezcal margaritas, and some wine. There will never be a dull moment when you hang out with us.
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
Daneyel: My top books would be The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and Untethered Soul by Michael Alan Singer. These books really influenced me to look deep into myself and lead me on a great path of self-improvement and self-discovery. Being able to understand myself and the world around me has always been a priority.
Tommy: My top book would be How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie, The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.
Finally, we want to shout out all past and present people who are a part of the Walk With Me Corporation. Every single person we’ve worked with shaped us in one way or another, and we are grateful for that.
