We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ben, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Ben Russell salon is a salon for everyone. The idea behind the salon is to bring a city experience to a beautiful country town in Somerset uk. From the great quality hair to a professional service. Also opening the doors to younger hairdressers in the town offering jobs and experiences they did not know existed and elite training that gives them confidence in their craft.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my career as a young man who had a dream as soon as I started doing hairdressing I fell in love with it I got my basic qualification at a great local salon and then I moved to London to follow my dream. There I found a great company that believed in me and my passion and taught me so much. I was very lucky to win a couple competitions and also have people believe in me and push me. This allowed me to become well known in the hair industry and go on to teach and do shows and present my passion to other hairdressers. It wasn’t easy there was some days that were long but you have to keep going until you have reached your goals. Nothing good in life comes easy I think when things get hard you know you’re on the brink of something good I wouldn’t change anything I’ve enjoyed the rides and everything has taught me a lesson and now I have my own hair Salon Ben Russell salon it represents Me and all my experiences. Ahome away from home For me and my clients
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a guest coming to visit me I would take him for a nice breakfast at frog Mary farm and a nice walk up and around Ham Hill I love that place and then I head to a village pub for some nice Thatchers Gold and a nice country meal or a beer garden
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I guess our journey starts with one person given us an opportunity. The person who gave me my first job a man called Simon Willets. He introduced me into the power of positive thinking. When I moved to London and got mentored by one of the elite haircutters in British hairdressing and andrew Hesemann who taught me so much about my craft.
