We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna Faaborg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donna, what inspires you?
I am inspired by so many different things which makes this content creating journey so fun and ever-changing. I am inspired to create by movies for outfits, fictional characters and their quotes, music lyrics that spark great video ideas, things that my friends say or do, and probably a million other things. I am constantly amazed by the things other creators do and more often than not, what they create either becomes a great trend for me to participate in or gives an idea of what I can do in a different way entirely.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me a part from others is that I always try to offer something diverse on page to always keep my followers engaged. With Instagram’s big change to being labeled a video-based app, many creators are finding themselves a little put off by such a huge content shift. However, I am taking this change as an opportunity to keep on moving forward to keep the diversity alive! With a mix of style, comedy, ad helpful tips, I hope that this new change brings me even closer to my followers so they can get to know my personality a little more!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in San Diego, we afforded so many opportunities for a good time! Some of the favorite spots that I would show one of my best friends if they were staying for a long weekend would be a mix of some of the more tourist-y spots and some of the more local hotspots. I would want to take them to the san Diego Zoo Safari Park so that I could show them that side of my work life. I would take them to the secret swing by the Birch Aquarium to watch the sunset and then to the Santee Drive In to catch a couple of movies. I would also take them on one of the many cool oceanside hikes like Annie’s Canyon Trail and then to Moonlight or Mission Beach. Finally depending on what kind of food they really enjoy, that could lead us to any number of amazing restaurants and bars in downtown like Little Italy or Seaport Village.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t do any of the things I do with content creation without my followers. I know that is probably one of the corniest things to say, but it’s true! It has always been through their constant support of all of my different types of content over every single platform that has given me this opportunity to work with amazing companies but also just to have a great time doing something I love.
