We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresa Frias and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teresa, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
There is no scientific method that we can follow to help us determine if we should keep working on something, or simply give up just because the idea didn’t work. In my opinion my driving factor has always been Faith. I strongly believe that things happen or don’t happen for a reason and just gives me the motivation to try again and work on a different approach.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have worked in the Casino Industry for over 20 years. I love what I do, because it gives me the opportunity to interact with people, which I enjoy! I have always loved helping others, especially when it comes to their well being. After my mom passed away from diabetes and seeing the eating habits we had as a family, not only what was going on our plates, but more so our emotions and behavioral patterns which were all contributors to our poor nutrition thus far. I learned then that I had to break that lifestyle for the sake of my children and my own! One of the biggest challenges I experience is that we live in a time where people want quick results, and they don’t want to put in the time and effort. I started reading about it, getting more informed about how to live a healthier life. Which led to getting my Certification as a Health Coach all while working a full-time job as a single mother (still do). I started to take the phrase “Knowledge is Power ” more seriously and decided to start up a facebook page called Cheers.2.Health just for fun and share my knowledge about eating healthy sharing my own recipes and choosing healthy foods that can also be fun and delicious! (I’m currently putting together a facebook page in Spanish) There is a lot of work to be done within the Hispanic community. I want the world to learn that there are ways to prevent chronic illnesses by eating healthy, cooking more at home as a family, and keeping your fitness levels up. I want people to know Cheers.2.Health is the guy on the sideline ready to support and encourage and cheer on those who are ready to make a commitment to themselves. And to take that leap of Faith and begin their life changing journey with my 3-Month health coach program.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Balboa Park would be at the top of the list and enjoy a delicious dinner at The Prado. I would definitely take her to Julian and visit all the little shops. we would take a drive along the highway 101 and admire the best sunsets that only Southern California has been Blessed with. Hikes are a must, so many places to choose from in San Diego! We would visit wineries in Temecula or South of the Border in Valle de Guadalupe. Not to mention we would go get our tan on at the beach. I would say, Wind and Sea or Coronado two of my favorite spots. We would also visit the beautiful town of La Mesa and check out their local Farmer’s Market which I often visit. I would take her to Little Italy on a Saturday morning to enjoy a delicious breakfast and walk around their Farmer’s market as well.

I want to dedicate this to my daughter for supporting and beliving in me without judgment. I thank my friends and family for their love and support!
