We had the good fortune of connecting with Temi Hason and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Temi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I love inspiring people! That’s why I studied Musical Theatre, Cello and Music Education. A Musical Home is a result of all three backgrounds coming together having the same goal: Inspiring people, changing lifes!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Not being in the country where you were born and raised and creating everything from scratch has been a very challenging path. A Musical Home is my first baby. A baby that changes over and grows over time! Creating your network, getting to know people and places has been challenging. Being a creative person and not a business person and putting my heart and soul into everything has been a challenge as well. I feel more rewarded and happy when I know I have inspired someone to start playing the Cello, a kid who surprising his parents with knowing the instruments when they went to see the orchestra, just switching the mood to happy of the people who came to the experience, seeing the firsts of a lot of babies and adults, then to think about the actual business part of things! What makes A Musical Home special is me having all 3 different backgrounds and experiences. Being a Professional Cellist and playing in orchestras has thought me the specialty and the amazing moving effect of each instrument sound specially when you are close enough and can feel the instrument, (literally!) . Being a Musical Theatre performer is a big part of my little performances every time we get all together! It’s an amazing profession where you need to be a great singer & actor. So many times during and after classes moms/dads/ adults tell me how much they appreciate the singing and enjoy hearing my voice! Being an Early Childhood Educator is the part where I know about the pedagogical part and talking the language of kids! Putting all three together is the part where I create an experience for everyone! It’s not a class! It’s an experience we all get to have! We meet a new instrument of the orchestra each week! We hear it live! Everyone including the adults gets to try the instrument! We have fun during the experience, dance, sing, jump, bond with our babies, create new friendships!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite place in San Diego is Coronado! It is a small gem where you can walk around have ‘the island life’ and find everything and anything. Caroline’s for brunch overlooking La Jolla Shores is my fav! But for best fish tacos my go to place is always PB Fish Shop! Their fish tacos and poke bowls are excellent!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It is an interesting story what brought me to SD after 8 wonderful years in New York as someone truly madly in love with New York. My biggest shout out is to Lamb’s Theatre! To all wonderful people who cast me for the award winning performance of ‘ONCE’ the musical. ONCE has been my dream show to be in as the role Reza! Since I saw it on Broadway couple years ago it really changed my life and the level of Broadway. There has not been a show where there is no orchestra but all the actors are playing instruments live on stage and acting and singing and dancing! I was truly blown away! As a Cellist and Musical Theatre Performer it has been my dream to put them together and this show and this feisty character had it all! After a long audition/callback period, when I got the call that I was cast for ONCE, I bursted into tears! A dream come true! ONCE was the reason I moved to San Diego! And the dream continued when my boyfriend at the time who is now my husband 🙂 proposed me on the opening night! My Lamb’s Theatre Family has been the very best and they have changed my life forever! An amazing boutique theatre in the heart of Coronado doing Broadway Level work!
