We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Ball and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tasha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Phoenix Rayne is literally my babies. The name comes from my two beautiful children, Jayden Phoenix and Phynix Rayne. I always had a love for fashion so when I started having children that love quickly turned into a love for children’s fashion. I knew that I wanted to own my own shop inspired by my littles ones.
The idea of Phoenix Rayne came about in 2018 when I found out we were pregnant with Miss Phynix. I always knew that I wanted to own my own shop inspired by my kiddos. I also knew for sure that I didn’t want to go back to my 9 to 5. I wanted to be able to stay home, spend more time with my little ones and work for myself.
Having a background in music and entertainment, I was also missing my creative outlet. Like most new moms, once I started having kids all my time and energy shifted to my children. As it should. So, I had been teetering with the idea for a while but never could bring myself to make the first move. The opportunity presented itself and I finally decided to take a leap of faith and open my own shop. And here we are! Opening up my own shop has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding things I have ever done besides child birth and motherhood.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My business gives me the creative outlet that I need. It is so important to me to have a creative outlet solely for the joy of it. And that is exactly what this shop is for me. I love being able to create the perfect accessories to complement outfits for the little ones, and at the same time make items that let them express their personalities and individuality.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All of my family and friends have been very supportive. They have helped in many ways including financially. I have had the support of my husband every step of the way. He is very creative so he is always coming up with awesome concepts, he also helps with design and marketing ideas.
Jayden and Phynix are all in the family business. They are not only the face of the brand, they are my fit models, my packaging assistants, etc.
Jayden my 5 year old helps with all product development. He tells me what he likes and why. He helps with the designs, choosing fabrics and colors. And he sure isn’t shy when it comes to voicing his opinion. My mom has also been a major part of my shop. She jumps in and helps out whenever I need her. She’s been my courier (I’m sure the post office knows her by name now ) she’s been my kid wrangler and has assisted me on all photo shoots, she even counts and updates inventory.
