Meet Sydni Fox: Hair stylist & Yoga Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydni Fox and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydni, what is the most important factor behind your success?
When I first became a hairstylist I was so young! I felt that I needed to put on this “professional hairstylist” persona. It wasn’t until I decided that I was going to be unapologetically myself that I started seeing success in my career. When I started practicing yoga daily I noticed that I didn’t feel the “need” to be someone else behind the chair. Now I’m not only grateful to teach yoga, but also that to cultivate the atmosphere in the salon that draws “my people”. My guests are all such wonderful humans! I hope that they also feel they can be vulnerable, relax, and enjoy beautiful hair.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am SO excited to look at my schedule and see it filled with amazing humans that want beautiful hair. The day that I decided that I was going to completely “be myself”, educate like crazy and dig deep into the business aspect of being a hairstylist was the BEST day of my life. I was not easy. My nineteen year old self thought hairstyling was just about the hair…. but it is SO much more. I love creating a safe place for my guests to relax, enjoy a glass of wine and leave feeling a little more confident. I also LOVE adding reiki into their hair washes!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
visitor for the day: We would start our morning at Coffee and Tea Collective in North Park. After coffee we would enjoy a Soyrizo brunch at The Mission and then head up to Torrey Pines for a beautiful walk around the cliffs! After that we would head down to Wonderland in OB and enjoy a sunset toast. If it’s Wednesday enjoying the OB farmers market is a must! Dinner would have to be at Trust on Park and then perhaps a show at the Observatory. Every night should end at Tiger Tiger with a nightcap and the BEST French fries on earth!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out Vicky Larsen (owner of Cleanslate Skin&Body) for always making me see my worth! Nancy Ngouy for being an incredible hair coloring mentor and human being and my grandma for always telling me I can do it!
