We had the good fortune of connecting with Luciano Demasi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luciano, what’s your definition for success?
Success is simply doing what makes you happy…Nothing more, nothing less

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always followed my dreams and passions in both my profession and art activities. The challenges are there every day: there is always something new and difficult to learn. Behind every photo there is an adventure. Reaching a remote location in the desert, interpreting the light conditions, selecting the camera settings and deciding how to process the infrared image. Everything is interconnected and cannot be repeated. Each moment is unique, each image has a story to share.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That would be very simple. First, there would be a scenic drive on the 67 via Ramona. First stop would be Julian (with a nice apple pie treat). Then Ranchita, and Anza-Borrego Desert, Borrego Springs, Visit at the Borrego Art Institute, way back to Julian, Cuyamaca State Park, stop at the lake, and finally dinner at a restaurant in La Mesa.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is the most complicated part to truly answer: life is an intricate interconnection of people and events. Giving credit to a single person/group would be incomplete… There is a book I would love to share with everyone. It is called “The Higgs Force” by Nicholas Mee. It brings a perspective on the universe and the symmetry breaking force which made possible to have the planets, matter, people, and art…
