We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Butterfield-Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.” One of my favorite quotes of all time spoken by everyone under the sun.

It’s hard to distinguish between whether we should keep going or give up. For me, I have always had set goals and dreams. The only problem was that I wanted to obtain them within a time frame. I think that’s where it gets sticky, time. How much time is too much? Is there a considerable time frame on your goals before we give up? To get philosophical, what is time? A made up object to keep us focused on one thing or another.

Listen, I get we don’t have all the time in the world and yes this life is limited on time. BUT, What if you were just around the corner of obtaining your goals or dreams and suddenly you gave up. Giving up requires the unknown, the unknown of knowing whether you were just a tiny bit off from your goals or had you not given up, you would have succeeded. For me its simple- If it lights me up inside, there’s no way in hell I’m giving up. Its a calling, a purpose, a download if you will. All of the setbacks, the challenges the bumps in the road are meant to teach you something. So for me the answer is never give up. You were given dreams and goals to see them through, why give up now when you are so close (even if it feels far off). Now, let’s say it doesn’t light your up, there’s no purpose or passion or intention behind it, stop wasting your time. Move on to the next thing that gets you closer to your purpose or passion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

My name is Stephanie and I am a fitness coach out of San Diego, Ca. I have been coaching for 8+ years and started my fitness journey while I was really young. I started playing soccer when I was 3 years old all the way through to adulthood. Fitness has always been a part of my life but not until years ago did it become my therapy too. Fitness changed my life not just physically but mentally. It changed my perspective on life. And that is why I created the Activate Method, a well rounded workout that is not just physical but restorative for the mind and soul too.

My classes are energetic, thoughtful, intentional and a wholesome workout. I believe in having breakthroughs and promise that you will have a breakthrough and clarity through movement. I start classes with intention, setting the foundations for the activation, we dive deep into each song, releasing energy and any expectations. You will leave feeling on top of the world, with thoughtful action steps to move forward to your life goals.
