We had the good fortune of connecting with Siggy Freud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Siggy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As an independent music artist, we’re responsible for covering every single one of our bases when it comes to the business and marketing avenues aside from the art itself. In this new age of technology however, there are many resources and opportunities available to us to succeed without any help from major labels and A & R’s. I do everything I have in my power to be able to get my music the exposure I feel it deserves as well as finding gigs and shows without having to hire a management company.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make house music that leans towards the funky side of the genre. This sets me apart from others as I walk the line of the traditional tech house many hear at shows and festivals around San Diego but also provide a more dance-infused, happy mood to the sound of my songs. My DJ sets balance these funkier types of songs I make with some more raw, gritty tracks to give the dance floor a range of emotions while they hit the dance floor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite music venue in all of San Diego would be Beach House in Mission Beach. If I had a friend visiting, I’d take them to a nice meal in Pacific Beach to pregame and then make our way to Beach House to enjoy the open-air atmosphere they have there. You can see the ocean waters perfectly from the dance floor, and the sunset views are breath taking while we catch our favorite artist throwing down some tracks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My number one shoutout would be my support system — family and friends who encourage me to continue to make music and come to my shows to support me, big or small. I have also found inspiration from the San Diego music scene and all of the connections I’ve made thus far in my journey out here. There are so many supportive artists out there who want each other to succeed.
