We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherrie Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherrie, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I feel the habits that have helped my business succeed and grow are to be as responsive as possible. When a client reaches out they want to receive immediate information. We work very hard to get the information a client is requesting on our business immediately so our clients feel confident in hiring our company.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Hair & Makeup artist. I work in the realm of television, film, fashion & commercial, but also accommodate clients for their events, when they travel, and special occasions. We travel anywhere in the world our clients will be. I started my career in London apprenticing under a celebrity hairstylist.
After my apprenticeship, I moved to Los Angeles to study makeup for the camera and after many years of hard work and persistence I opened Artists by Sherrie Long. Artists by Sherrie Long is a mobile beauty company and we have artists in many states across the US. If asked if becoming a makeup artist and or hairstylist for the media easy?
I would say most substantial careers take work, nothing is free or easy. If you have goal, stick to your passion & have persistence, you can become successful at anything you choose to do. All things take hard work.
What do you want the world to know about your brand story?
I am just so passionate about my brand Artists by Sherrie Long. I have worked very hard over the last 27 years to build a strong reputation. One that clients all over the world call upon when they need the very best hair and makeup artists. We pride ourselves in working directly with a client to give them the look they need. This involves a lot of consultation, communication and honesty. We treat every clients event as if were our own. We just really truly care about the happiness of our clients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Napa Valley so this is easy. In Napa we have some of the best food wine and scenery in the world. I would start the day with morning Yoga in the vineyards at Cuvaison Wine Estate, followed with a glass of their sparkling wine on their beautiful patio overlooking their stunning valley view. Next I would be off to breakfast at ABC (Alexis) Baking Company in Napa for some Huevos Rancheros & Lemon Riccota Pancakes A easy hike up to Linda Falls to see a beautiful water fall, then it would be an earned lunch at Auberge du Soliel over looking the Valley I would then probably do a drive through the Valley to take in the scenery & pulling over to do some wine tasting at places like Frogs Leap, Darioush winery, and Davis Estates. Finally a great walk down Washington Street in Yountville stopping at one of my favorite restaurants Bistro Jeante for their famous Tomato Soup in puff pastry. Bon Appetit!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Its rare a company got to an elite status on their own. Most people get references, praise, consulting and camaraderie from their colleagues as they come up in their desired industry. I have many people who consulted me along the way. The two that most stand out to me would be my previous bookers in an agency I was once represented. Filiz Rezvan (www.filizrezvan.com) & Cynthia Black (www.cblackbooks.com). Both exhibited patience and kindness to me but also challenged me to work to my full potential.
