We had the good fortune of connecting with Shea Kelly & Lucky Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shea & Lucky, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our thought process behind starting our own business was to do something we enjoyed doing everyday. Both coming from sales and marketing backgrounds, we discussed how building relationships and sustaining those relationships were a key factor in our past successes. We both enjoyed meeting new people, learning about their business or passion and then helping them grow or reach their goals through creative strategies. From this came the idea to take a chance together and build a business of our own. We thought “If not now, then when?”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We own and operate Bun & Beard Productions- a full-service production media house offering video marketing, aerial imaging and Real Estate videography and photography services in San Diego County. Shea is the “Bun” and Lucky is the “Beard”… thankfully 🙂 We are both born and raised in Southern California (San Diego & San Clemente) and having our own company that allows us to work with businesses in the communities where we grew up is very special. The best part about our job is getting to know our clients, listening to their needs, creating custom strategies and then delivering unique products that will help their business. We work with all types of businesses and brands in different industries, from small to large and everything in between. Our clients include local shops like boutique pet stores to nationwide Solar Energy and Construction companies to even Non-Profit Organizations who help both local and international groups of people. We focus on clear communication, attention to detail and excellent customer service to build lasting relationships with our clients. This along with our production abilities as well as our continuous desire to learn from our ever changing artform sets us apart. Also, we’ve been told we’re fun to work with and deliver a quality product 🙂

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, it depends if we are talking about pre or post pandemic but a few of our favorite spots and things to do in San Diego include: -Kayaking in & listening to a concert at Humphreys by the Bay on Shelter Island -Drinking World Famous Mai Tais at Bali Hai -Strolling around Balboa Park- we especially love the Botanical Building -Taking a bike ride around Coronado island -Golfing at Torrey Pines -Watching the sunset at Sunset Cliffs

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We definitely have to give a huge shoutout to both of our families and friends who have been so supportive of our new business venture. Starting your own business can be very challenging and there are constantly new obstacles that come up. We feel grateful that we have the love and support of so many. An extra special shoutout to our mentors, Alex, Eric & Jeff, all who have their own successful businesses. We constantly call them for advice and they are always there to help.
