We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Vendramini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been in love with photography, and I thought that if I ever did that for work I’d photograph fashion portraits. After buying a better camera I second shot my first wedding and I fell in love with it! So let’s say that it took me years to finally think: WOW I can turn my passion into a full-time job.

I’ve worked very hard to finally be full-time and I am loving it!

My goal is to capture candid moments, have fun with my couples, and have memories where they will look at and feel like themselves in the photos and not like robots.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am originally from Brazil, and I moved to the US in 2013. Though these past years, I’ve met people from all over the world. I feel like getting to know different cultures helped me to open my mind so much that I feel like I am ready for any wedding and that I can make my sessions fun and unique.

It was not easy at the beginning, to find my style and how I would direct my couples, but today it just feels so natural that I always tell my couples: For your session just think that you’re hanging out with a friend and it happens that she has a camera. Many sessions feel like playdates, my couples feel like kids again with some directions, there are always lots of laughs and of course I also get tons of romantic shots.

I have learned that adapting to each client and personality is the key to getting great photos and providing a great experience.

My brand is like a boutique, that serves the clients and adapts to them. Not like a big store where you just buy what everyone has. I want to provide a unique relationship with them and have them feel on their wedding day that they have a friend there and not just another vendor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely check The Santa Barbara beaches like Butterfly Beach and Mesa Lane. The Parks Shoreline, Alice keck, and Elwood bluffs. For eating, I feel like most of the places at The Funk Zone are amazing, and from there you can walk on Stearns Wharf.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am very thankful for my husband Alex, he always supported me and bought the camera that I used for my first sessions and weddings. And I am also thankful for the photographers that helped me at the begging of my career, they guided me and mentored me to be where I am now. One of them is Alex from Idalia Photography in New Jersey
