We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Yusupov and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor is keeping up with your business. It’s very easy to get side-tracked and focus on other priorities. But even taking one step in the right direction can change everything for the better.

Life can get chaotic, but you must remember your path. Whenever it seems difficult to keep moving forward, you must remember why you started and that will motivate you to continue pushing forward!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is fashion design.

I love being able to purchase fabrics and cut them out into different pieces to create a beautiful garment. The idea of creating something so amazing from a few yards of fabric can create something so wonderful.

I first started by sewing for myself and creating garments that I wanted to fit me. I noticed that I was not finding the fashions and the sizes that I wanted in stores, so I decided to make them myself.

Then, friends and family members began asking which store I was getting my clothing from and I told them that I made it. Because of this, they were intrigued to have me sew for them as well!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sunday – Balboa Park Show the international homes and maybe stop by a few museums.
Enjoy a meal at the Prada and then head to Downtown for nightly action.

Monday – Fun in the Zoo
This would probably a full day experience, as the zoo is a wonderful place to visit.
Heading to Little Italy for a nice dinner and dessert would finish off the evening.

Tuesday – Coronado
Heading to the beach and going for a bike ride is an amazing experience.
Also, there are opportunities for kayaking and paddle-boarding

Wednesday – Torrey Pines
Taking a day on land and a nice hike up Torrey Pines would be wonderful!

Thursday – Harbor Cruise
Taking a trip on the Harbor would very fun!

Friday – La Jolla
Finishing off the adventure with a relaxed day at the beach would be amazing.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
My family and my community has been very supporting of my decisions to begin everything that I have wanted to do. They immediately recognized that I was passionate about my mission and have always been there to lend a helping hand.

I am so glad that I have people in my life who have been able to see my vision and point me in the right direction to make my dreams become a reality.
