We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhonda Barber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rhonda, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be faith without borders! Anything with God is possible! He turns every impossibility into possibilities! There’s a saying that speaks to, if you can dream it, it can be done, however, dreaming with God takes you much further than you could have ever imagined on your own. I want my legacy to touch down right there. I was once told something along the lines of, if I knew God was with me on something, I didn’t need all of the details, I would risk it all on that single truth. To this day, there has not been one thing that God has dropped the ball on with me, not one! Had I been careful in some areas of my life when it came to “dreaming with God”, had I ascribed to needing all the details before I stepped out on faith to do something, I would have missed some major game changers in my life. Moments that took me from hopeless to a hope dealer!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is simple, we’re all created uniquely for a specific purpose. There are no authentic copycats. That’s why it’s ridiculous to try and be anything other than who you are. I’m most excited about helping others to discover what’s unique about themselves in order to live authentically! I got to where I am because of the community that I am connected with. You can’t fulfill any of your life’s dreams alone, you need community to be successful. This has by far not been an easy process, I suffered some painful losses along the way, some were necessary, some were not, the lessons I learned were golden and have been woven beautifully into my story. Beauty for ashes. The losses were painful but I learned that embracing and leaning into my pain would be more beneficial than trying to break my fall or in my case, avoid those losses. My life is my brand. How I wake up each morning and go about my day, that’s my brand. It’s not something I run into a phone booth and change from regular clothes to superhero clothes, I embody the superhero by being all that God has created me to be, anything else is fake and inauthentic. Authenticity has saved my life and it will save others. It’s a lot of work trying to be what you’re not, been there done that and not trying to go back. I want others to know that dreams come true when you’re dreaming with God.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friends were coming to town we would rent an Airbnb by the beach to enjoy the waves. I would take them to the Farmers Market in Vista on Saturday morning for some good eating and then we would drive to L.A. or San Diego to enjoy the local scenery, Hollywood Hills, Rodeo Drive, scenic drive down Coast Highway and the Gaslamp area in San Diego.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh my gosh there are quite a few who deserve credit and shoutouts in my story. My mother Denise Barber Mitchell for always supporting my wild dreams no matter how crazy they were! She trusted the wind in my sails. My sisters Angel & Pilar, they helped me to believe that I was worthy of every dream and I needed to fight for myself like I fought for others. My Awakening International Tribe for seeing things in me that I hadn’t yet seen in myself, pointing them out and allowing me a safe space to grow. They love me as though we bleed the same blood and it’s real. My children for being as incredible, resilient and loving as they are, they were crazy enough to trust that my crazy wasn’t so crazy at all!
