We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Casey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paige, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am an expert social media strategist empowering entrepreneurs to create a real impact on social media. My journey started when I found myself craving freedom to choose my clients and escape the fast-paced mentality of working in an agency setting. As a former publicist, I knew I was equipped with all of the tools I needed to go out on my own and start my own business. The biggest obstacle to overcome was choosing to let go of my limiting belief that I couldn’t make it on my own because I was too young, not established enough or that it would be much safer to climb the corporate ladder. It took a few years of working side hustles to make enough to be a full-time business owner. Now I’m a content creator coach, photographer and influencer with much more control over work-life balance.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To be a content creator/ influencer, you’re expected to create top-level engaging content without an entire production team or expensive equipment. One of the biggest obstacles has been battling the narrative most media portrays that influencers don’t have real jobs or that the job is vein and easy. Realistically, we are creating content for small business which is ultimately used for ads that perform really well. In most cases, these small businesses would never have been able to afford quality content creation if they had to hire the traditional production team, models, hair and makeup etc. As a mainly women-run, 15-billion dollar industry, I’m hoping to see more respect for content creators in the future.
