We had the good fortune of connecting with Nili Peretz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nili, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that taking risks is essential for succeeding in business and life in general. In today’s world, reality can change rapidly–there is no real way to know what the future will look like.
We were all born with the innate ability to take risks, embrace change, and try new things. For instance, when we first learn how to walk or ride a bike, we fall a couple of times before we get the hang of it. But when we fall, we always find a way to get back up. Yet as we get older and our limiting beliefs grow stronger, many of us develop a fear of taking risks. As a result, we became consumed by the daunting possibility of failing and being judged by others.
Every new idea, innovation, or potential business requires us to embrace uncertainty in one way or another. So often, we are just a few steps away from achieving our goal. Success is right around the corner, but we must take steps to get there. Will you go all in and take the risk with where you are now? Or will you wait until everything is “perfect” before taking that initial step?
I have met many people who have incredible ideas they want to bring to life. But not every idea comes to fruition. So what exactly is the difference between those who successfully spread their ideas globally and those who don’t?
Risk taking. The individuals that succeed are the ones who are able to embrace uncertainty with open arms.
When I look back at my career, I believe I am where I am today professionally due to my ability to take risks, learn new skills, and embrace the unknown.
For me this journey started around 20 years ago, when I made the decision to leave my secure job as a white-collar defense attorney and embrace a path towards becoming an entrepreneur, author, speaker and coach.
Every accomplishment in my career has required me to go out of my comfort zone and take a risk. From delivering a TEDx talk in Solana Beach on the connection between audacity and success (The Positive Chutzpha Mindset), to co-publishing my book, Obama’s Secrets: How to Speak and Communicate with Power and a Little Magic.
Taking a leap on my dreams is what led me to where I am today.
What should our readers know about your business?
Please tell us more about your work:
I help entrepreneurs, executives, and business owners reprogram their minds for success by utilizing the latest neuroscience discoveries to expand their consciousness and adopt an abundance mindset for their businesses.
Together with my partner, Gil, we lead an online academy for business owners and entrepreneurs around the globe, helping them with their professional and personal growth.
As a TEDx mentor, business mentor, and co-founder of the Israeli Speakers Academy, I have trained and consulted hundreds of entrepreneurs, aspiring speakers and executives.
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others:
I incorporate a holistic approach in my work, integrating cutting-edge neuroscience knowledge and a mind-body-soul methodology for peak performance, success, and self-development.
what you are most proud of or excited about:
I am proud and thankful that I was able to develop a career that is so fulfilling and aligns with my personal purpose, while at the same time being involved in my three daughters’ lives as they were growing up. It wasn’t easy at first, but overtime I found a good balance between career and family. Becoming self-employed was what changed the game for me. Being my own boss has provided me with immense flexibility around my work, and has allowed me to spend time with my girls and be present in their childhood.
How did you get to where you are today professionally:
I was always interested in understanding how new innovative ideas come to life; how some people achieved their big, daunting goals while others didn’t.
This interest led me to begin researching the connection between audacity and success in business. This research eventually led me to the TEDx stage, where I presented insights from studies on hundreds of successful game-changing entrepreneurs in Israel and beyond
Overtime, I became more focused on the correlation between business, neuroscience, and consciousness. I began to integrate these three disciplines in order to help my clients upscale their businesses.
Since this is my passion, I always search for opportunities to share my knowledge with others. I have published articles in leading publications like Forbes Magazine and participate in the most updated related conferences and executive programs in universities like MIT and Berkeley.
Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges:
The journey wasn’t always easy for me. For example, when I transitioned from my career as a lawyer to a self employed entrepreneur, I had to overcome many fears and limiting beliefs around the traditional path to success. Also, moving with my husband and three daughters from Israel to the US in 2012 to start a new business in a new country from scratch was challenging.
But as Nelson Mandela said:
“The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
Three things that helped me through my journey:
Igniting my passion for learning new things
Developing a growth mindset
Focusing on enjoying the journey and creating balance through practices like yoga, mindfulness, dance, and walking in nature.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way:
As long as you remain consistent and committed to your vision, you can achieve it. I also learned that every challenge or failure is an opportunity for growth. The journey to success is all about discovering your authenticity and using your uniqueness to positively impact the world.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
You can achieve anything regardless of age. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself and embrace a new path, as long as you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and go after your true passions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the boardwalk at Del Mar Beach to watch the sunset, followed by dinner at Poseidon. The next day I would take them to the farmers market in Little Italy, walk around, get gluten-free coconut pancakes, and drink kombucha. We would then explore Liberty Station, grab coffee at Moniker Coffee and walk around the indoor market. Later in the day, we would drive to Mission bay and go on a walk around the bay during sunset. Finally, on Sunday, we would go to the Pacific Beach boardwalk, walk around while soaking in the sun, and stop by Palmy’s for coffee and some food..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I feel so grateful for Gil Peretz, who’s not only my amazing partner and husband but also a global business mentor that inspires me every day. Gil has always supported me every step of the way. He pushes me to take risks and encourages me to learn new things and share my knowledge with the world. His support goes beyond my career; he is also an incredible father to our three daughters.
My work was also influenced by Bruce Lipton, author of “The Biology of Belief,” Dr. Tara Swart, author of “The Source,” and many more leading scientists and writers including, Norman Doidge, Dr. Srini Pillay, Annie Murphy Paul, and Carol Dweck
