Meet Nikki Threatt | ADTV Host, Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Threatt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I was a stay at home mom for 10+ years while my kids were little and my husband was serving in the military, when he retired and my kids were all in school full time I decided to start a career in real estate and I dove in head first. My first few years I would work when my clients needed me no matter what, sure I was “present” at home and for my family but I would answer calls, text etc 24/7 even at 1 am one time but thats a story for another time. I would go out and show homes or take listing apts completely around my clients schedule with no regard for my own. While I do think this helped launch my business it was giving big burn out vibes, as I got more comfortable in my role as “working mom” I started to realize what my most important priorities were and that that was my family. So now working on my 6th year in real estate I will not sacrifice time with my family for work. Do I still bend over back wards for my clients 100% but I find that my clients respect when I say “my kid has a football or soccer game at that time could we do it at X time instead” I have yet to have someone say “NO, do it when I say or you are fired” I learned I can still be successful and give my clients what they need while never missing out on my family time and putting them first. Its def a learning curve to learn balance but it is well worth it when you get there.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am multi state licenced realtor, I pride myself in not being pushy, I do not see my clients as a pay check. Of course no one works for free and we want to get paid. However, I always wants best for my clients esp when buying a home. A Home is most often the largest purchess someone will make and I want them to LOVE IT ! Building a brand is never easy, As a military spouse we moved, and we moved alot! So starting over this past year when we moved to Ohio has been humbling, what had worked in the past didnt work here and it took alot of failed tries to get some things right. Getting back up and trying and not just quitting is what I think make anyone stronger. Just like any career, and business owner some days I wonder if I am cut out for this, but when I get to tell buyers they got the house, or telling my sellers we have great offers gives me so much joy and drive to keep going.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, lets hope its summer because Ohio is cold in winter LOL For starters we would hit up local food joints, from Heathers cafe on main street for lunch in downtown Springboro, to cocktails across the street at the 70/70 social club you cant go wrong. We would def grab dinner at the The last queen a truily original british pub outside of Cincinniti. Best fish and chips in ohio in my opinion. Check out a ball game with the Dayton dragons for some more small town vibes, or down to a reds game. Nothing is more American in my mind than a hot dog, beer, and a baseball game. Of course we have to jump on my boat and head 20 min away from my house to ceasars creek for some tubing, wakeboarding, and a all around good time. This is my fav lake in the area, its big but not too big, and never too crowded even on a busy weekend. The Foundry in Dayton for dinner is a total vibe, best coctails and view of the city hands down! Its got a great rooftop. Dayton is known for its festivals so no matter the weekend in summer there is sure to be one we could hit up with great food trucks and awesome beers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband Ryan for always being my biggest cheerleader, not matter the highs or lows he is always believing me more than I believe in myself.
Rachel and Dawn Riley of the The Riley team for all the mentorship in real estate, for answering ever call, text, and question with kindness even when I am pretty sure they had answered multipul times. Mostly thank you for your friendship.
